It was a warm summer's night, with the moon shining in a bright, crescent shape in the middle of the dark blue sky. It glowed so brightly that you could see a white glow around it, like a painting on a wall. Stars glistened like little flakes of salt that spread across the sky, dotting the background completely to add more of a view. The trees rustled and swayed, spreading dark green leaves in front of the pathway. The sound of the branches creaking echoed in the wind, loud as if it was right next to me. The leaves squished under my paws as I walked. It didn't leave prints, due to the ground was dry and it hadn't rained in a while. A cool wind brushed against my fur, pushing it along with it. I kept my ears low to keep my head warm. It was a little hard to hear if another creature of the night was sneaking up behind me. But according to the smell of the air, nothing was following.

It was about one in the morning and I walked silently behind my mom, looking around as our part of the woods changed to something completely different. I was lagging behind, due to being watchful of glowing red, vampire eyes within the woods. This wasn't the woods that I was used to, seeing how I never left our neck of the woods. I started to slow down as I looked around. Growling came ahead as I turned to look at my mom. Her grey fur stood out against the black woods, like a shadow within the night. Her golden-yellow eyes stood out, letting her see me perfectly. I lowered my head as I continued to walk, catching up before she turned to walk some more. My mom walked proudly, with her head held high and her ears perched, as she listened in many directions. A little crack entered the woods, which made us stop. At this point, my ears were perched and I looked in the direction of the sound. The branches rustled as a man stepped out of the woods. The man had short brown hair, with grey in it and beating red eyes. My mom sniffed in his direction as she growled at the being. The man chuckled. "Well, what's a couple of wolves doing in a vampire's neck of the woods?" the man asked as he laughed some more. My mom switched to her human form as she looked at the man. Her brown hair was at shoulder length, braided behind her and in a bun to keep from getting it cut off. She crossed her arms as she spoke. "I don't need you or any other vampires knowing where I take my daughter," she said, with a growl. The vampire smiled as he spoke. "Wolves blood, never tried that," the vampire said, as he lunged at my mom. My mom extended her claws as she swiped at the vampire, peeling off a bit of his skin in the process. The vampire screeched in pain as it backed up. "So you want a fight?" the vampire's voice cracked as he lunged again. I watched as my mom fought the vampire, while I backed up for safety.

I switched forms as I placed my hand up to my mouth in fear, still backing up from the fight. I backed up into a being as an arm wrapped around me. "Never seen a wolf in a while" a gravelly voice spoke, as a long-nailed hand rested on my shoulder. I extended my claws as I turned and swung. The vampire behind me grabbed my wrist, tightening it's grip so I couldn't pull out. The vampire laughed as it spoke. "I heard that young wolves blood very tasty," it said, as it pulled me closer. I gave a howl-like scream as the vampire screeched and let go of me. When he did, I fell to the ground as I held my wrist. The vampire swiped at my mom as she jumped on the vampire. The vampire pushed her off as they continued with the fight. I backed up as I watched my mom take one last blow, letting the vampire fall to the ground. I took multiple deep breaths as she changed to her human form. She looked at the vampire with cold, black eyes as they faded back to their normal sky blue. She shook her hands as she spoke. "You alright, Fang?" my mom asked as I nodded. "I think so. Sorry, I didn't know how to fight against it" I said, with a depressed tone to my voice. My mom sighed as she wrapped her arms around me in a hug. "It's alright, you never been in contact with a vampire before. Maybe the academy will help with that" she said, as a crack entered the area again. My mom jumped to her feet as we found ourselves surrounded by vampires, all with the same red eyes. "Wolves," one of them said, as they lunged. I screamed and lowered my head, tucking it in for safety, while listening to my mom's claws.
