Lauren's POV

"Should we congratulate you now in advance for winning that math debate?" Shannon asked that made Sophia chuckled.

"We should be, we're A-2 students so Sophia can definitely ace that competition so easily." Claire.

"Aha, this is the right time to put that witch to where she truly belongs." Alexa.

"I will guys." Sophia replied with a confident grin plastered on her lips. They all started to laugh and give each other a high five while I remain quiet in my seat.

"Let's not be too over confident just because Phi is facing Karla." I butt in. I had enough of them being a bunch of airhead. I hate it when someone talk like this just because we are the students from A-2.

"Why are you suddenly getting soft to that girl?" Hannah.

"I'm not. I'm just saying the smart one always lose to a cheater one so don't celebrate yet." I took my coffee before I storm off the room, leaving them all alone.

I walk down the hallway when my phone suddenly buzzed in against my pocket. It's Normani calling so I quickly answer it.

"Hey Mani."

"Are you busy?" Normani asked. And by the tone of her voice, I know she's sad.

"Not really. Why? Did something happen?"

"Yeah, you know where to find me." Then the line cut off.

I slip my phone back inside my pocket as I hurriedly go to the rooftop where we usually hang out when we need some time and space to think.

"Hey, what's the matter?" I put my hand over Mani's shoulder to make my presence known as I take a seat beside her.

"I feel like I'm such a useless friend. I can't even help Dinah."

I let Normani talk because I feel like I already know what happened.

Karla will never take no for an answer.

"Seeing her crying that much really broke my heart. I wish I can do something, Lauren. I really do wish I can take away all of her pain."

I shift my eyes on Normani who's already crying too. This situation does not only affect Dinah and our friendship but it also affect Normani.
