The Badge and The Burden Part 2

Weiss came back from the locker room, now in her combat attire, readying her rapier at the cage in front of her. The creature let out several growls as it saw her. We are cheering her on, but she seems to be specifically targeting Ruby for some reason, though it doesn't take a genius to know why she was so mad at Ruby.

Yang: Goooo, Weiss!

Blake: Fight well!

Me: Don't fuck up!

Ruby: Yeah, represent teeeeam RWBY!

Weiss: Ruby! I'm trying to focus.

Ruby: Oh, um... Sorry...

Ruby was looking sheepish, so I got her attention, and she looked over at me.

Me: She is just salty that you are the leader, she will get over it eventually.

Professor Pornstache pulled out his Blunderbuss. Seriously, how the hell does he aim with that? It has two blades, both on either side of the stock. I like guns and axes just as much as the next guy, but at least mine are practical. He swings his incredibly impractical weapon and broke the lock, revealing a Boarbatusk, not that difficult, as long as she goes for the belly she should be good. The beast charged at her, and she used her sword to deflect its attack and did a dodge roll to the side, and readied herself for its next move. The Boarbatusk stood far away from her, seemingly studying its opponent

Port: Ha-ha! Wasn't expecting that, were you?

Ruby: Hang in there, Weiss!

Weiss speed toward the Boarbatusk, trying to stab it in the skull, seriously, has she ever fought one of these before? Her sword got trapped in the beast's tusks, who immediately started to thrash around, trying to knock her weapon out of her hands. People like to think of Grimm as mindless beasts, but to be honest, they are quite resourceful and smart.

Port: Bold, new approach. I like it!

Ruby: Come on, Weiss, show it who's boss!

Weiss turned and shot a glare at Ruby, causing her to lose her weapon, she is totally going to blame Ruby for this. After the weapon lands, Weiss gets launched away by the beast.

Port: Oh-ho! Now, what will you do without your weapon?

Weiss looked up just in time to see the Boarbatusk charging yet again, and manages to roll out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled. The beast charges straight into the desk. Weiss uses this time to rush to her sword and take it back into her hand.

Ruby: Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-

Weiss: Stop telling me what to do!

Ruby grew a hurt face at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly and landing on the ground, gaining speed at a rapid pace before launching itself at Weiss. It grows closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her white glyphs and blocks the roll, leaping into the now-black glyph and turning it white again, so she is able to drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals in pain and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief. That took way to long, I guarantee that I could have killed that thing in less than ten seconds.

Port: Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in the presence of a true Huntress-in-training! I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... Stay vigilant! Class dismissed!

Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.

Jaune: Sheesh, what's with her?

Me: Many things, too many to list.

I followed my partner team out and was sitting around the corner from the conversation that Ruby and Weiss are having.

Ruby: Weiss!

Weiss: What?

Ruby: What's wrong with you? Why are you being-

Weiss: What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You're supposed to be a leader, and all you've been so far is a nuisance!

Ruby: What did I do?

Weiss: That's just it — you've done nothing to earn your position! Back in the forest, you acted like a child, and you've only continued to do so!

Me: That's a funny thing to say because she isn't the one acting like a whiny little girl right now, you are. She is fifteen years old, she IS still a child, and she is allowed to act like it, but she isn't acting like a child, she is acting as much as an adult as a fifteen-year-old girl can! I guarantee that you couldn't be a better leader than Ruby.

Weiss: So you think that Ruby is a good leader, even after seeing how exceptional I am?

Me: I do, because to be honest, you may be half-way decent in combat, but that is only matched by your shitty attitude.

Weiss: How dare you!

Me: My point exactly! Weiss, you spent your entire life getting exactly what you wanted.

Weiss: That's not even remotely true.

I gave her a knowing look, and she cracked under the pressure of it.

Weiss: Well... not entirely true.

Me: So the outcome didn't fall in your favor. Do you honestly believe that acting like this will cause Ozpin to make you the leader? So instead of fretting about what you don't have, savor what you do. Hone your skills, perfect every technique, and be the best person you can be.

Weiss seemed incredibly surprised at my words and started smiling.

Weiss: I didn't think of you could say such words of wisdom, Y/n.

Me: I aim to please.

Weiss walked off, most likely to think about it, and suddenly, I was knocked back, I looked down and saw Ruby hugging me. While I couldn't feel it, I could tell that it would have been warm.

Ruby: Thank you, Y/n

Me: Someone has to keep my sister in place, and it sure as hell isn't going to be you for a while, I will deal with her until she accepts the fact that you are the leader.

We started our walk back to the dorm, and Ruby looked at me and asked me a question that I haven't thought about for a while.

Ruby: Hey Y/n?

Me: What's up?

Ruby: If you had an opportunity to be able to feel things again, would you take it?

Without hesitation, I answered the question.

Me: Honestly. Yeah, I would, it honestly gets very depressing not being able to feel things anymore, I wish there was some way to feel again.

When we got back to the dorm, I grabbed my guitar and headed to the roof, so I could play in peace, I knew that they would most likely follow me, but I need to express some kind of feelings. I took a seat on a bench against a wall and closed my eyes and started playing a song that expresses things that I am feeling right now.

Blake's PoV

We all decided to follow him, Pyrrha ended up joining us once she found out what we were following him for. We waited for a few minutes before we heard the sound of music from the other side of the door, and then we heard the singing.

Oh no, this made me realize that his life is so void of happiness, and he keeps a big smile on his face the entire time. I know now that it is just a mask, in reality, he has nothing. I think that we are the first friends he has had in a while because he believes that he will let us all down, and we won't like him anymore. He thinks he is going to hurt us, and I want to help him so badly. I realized what he said before. "I focus on the pain, the only thing that's real." He is turning all the emotional pain into physical pain, in any way he can. I realized now that tears are streaming down my face, we are the only ones that he has left, before us, his life was people using his skill for their gain, and now he believes that is all he is useful for. I wish I could tell him how I feel about him, it may have only been a couple of weeks, but he is such a sweet guy and is so good to everyone, even when people haven't been good to him. But what about this morning? Surely that wasn't just friendly flirting, right? Like that was way too much to be friendly, right? I need to tell him sooner or later, even if he doesn't feel the same about me, we can still be friends. The song finished, and we scrambled to get back to our room, while we are also rushing to wipe the tears from our faces, but there is no way that he wouldn't notice the puffy eyes. We all acted like we are asleep. He laid down in my bed, and I felt my heartbeat speed up. I think I was actually shaking because I felt him turn over.

Y/n: Are you cold?

If I lie will he cuddle me?

Me: Y-Yeah.

He pulled me against him, and I could feel an incredible warmth that he is giving off.

Me: You're so warm.

I snuggled further into him, which made him smile.

Y/n: Damn, I wish I could feel it. Goodnight, Blake.

Me: Goodnight, Y/n.
