Chapter 1

I have a lot of this written already, but a friend suggested I post this here so I'm going to post the first five chapters and then go from there!! :)

“Mum!” I called walking into the house, dropping my backpack by the door. Kicking off my shoes, I listened intently for a sound from her, but I didn’t hear anything.

With a frown, I headed into the kitchen grabbing an apple off the counter and pulling the jar of peanut butter out of the cupboard. I cut the apple into slices and leaned against the island as I dipped my apple slices into the peanut butter. I let my eyes roam around the kitchen as I ate and my eyes caught a note hanging on the fridge. Shoving a small piece of apple into my mouth, I walked over and grabbed it.

Emmy,

Went out with the girls for massages and pedicures. We may do dinner and a movie afterward. I’ll give you a call and let you know! If I don’t see you tonight, have a good time at Ashton’s. Dad will be home tomorrow night around six so be home in time for dinner! Hope you had a good day at school, sweetie.

Love Mum

Oh, and please do your homework before you go!

I put the note onto the counter and went back to finish my apples. I screwed the lid back on the jar of peanut butter and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge before going and grabbing my backpack and heading to my room. I didn’t have too much homework so it wouldn’t take me too long to do.

I sat down on my bed and spread my homework out, sending a text to Ashton to let him know I’d be over within two hours and got started on my math. I was halfway through my math homework when my phone rang. Glancing at the screen, I answered it with a smile.

“Hi Mum.” I said.

“Hi honey. The girls and I are about to leave the spa now.” She told me.

“Alright. Are you going to grab dinner and a movie?”

“I think so. All of our children seem to have made plans and we aren’t needed.” She hummed teasingly.

“Well, what a great thing for everyone involved then!”

“Emerson Rose!” Mum laughed, making me join in. “You cheeky, cheeky girl! Hanging out with Ashton definitely shows!”

“Oh Mum, you know this is all from you and Dad. Ashton had nothing to do with it.” I disagreed, smiling because it was almost completely true. Being best friends with a boy since we were six had definitely showed, especially now eleven years later.

“Yeah, yeah.” Mum dismissed. “You have a good time over there okay? And home in time for dinner tomorrow Em. I mean it.”

“I will Mum. Don’t worry.” I promised.
