Chapter 7 - Leads

Charlie's POV

Tuesday

As I wake up the next day, I head straight to my office and continue searching about the identity of the mysterious man and the fishy company that we saw before. As I skim through the files on my computer, I came across an address and some transactions involving huge sums of money. I contacted Arthur telling him what I found and prepared to leave to meet him. As I was about to leave, Katie and Jose see me heading towards the door. "I prepared some food for you guys, help yourselves," I told them, gave them a wave and I head out to meet Arthur.

Arthur's POV

As I was waiting for Charlie at the local cafe, I get a call from Johnson telling me about the details of the company and the mysterious man in the hospital the other day through the CCTV. "I looked through the list of companies around the city, the name of the company is Shax Industries, headed by Tyler Shax. On the mysterious man though, I don't have any clues yet. I'll keep you posted." 

Charlie's POV

I arrived at the cafe with my laptop along with the files that were on the drive, I see Arthur at the end of the cafe waiting for me. As I sat down opposite him, I opened the file and showed him the transactions that the company was doing. "What were dates, Charlie?" Arthur asks. The latest transaction was one, last week, two transactions last month, one from 6 months ago, and three from last year. "The transactions are at least over $500,000 and the one from 6 months is the one I'm interested in, 2.2 million dollars worth of supplies? That's sketchy." Arthur says. We checked out the details of that transaction and what we found was beyond our expectations. It showed the details of what the company has bought, too many to mention one by one. 

Arthur's POV

While looking at the list of the 2.2 million dollar transaction, I get a call from an unknown number. Hello? "Arthur, nice to hear your voice again, it's been a while." Who is this? "You don't remember me? Anyways just calling you to say hello, also, say hi to Charlie for me. Bye." The female caller immediately hangs up leaving me stunned. "Hey Arthur, you ok? You look like you've seen a ghost." Charlie asks. I quickly get back to my senses and tell him I'm ok. By the way Charlie it's lunch already. "Yeah, guess we should eat here then."

Charlie's POV

While waiting for food, I get a text from Katie that almost everyone has woken up except Sam and Ethan because he fell asleep while taking care of her. 

C - How was your day?

K - Tiring, but I'm ok. How about you? How's your meeting with Officer Arthur?

C - It went well. Dug up some stuff about the company, learned about the transactions that they were doing. Anyways happy lunch and take care. 

Katie's POV

After having a small chat with Charlie, I checked on the others to see how they are doing. I first checked on Ethan and Sam in one of the rooms. I opened the door and there they were, sleeping like a bunch of babies, as I head to the next room to check where Taylor was, she's in the living room, watching TV and Jose is playing video games in Charlie's basement as usual.  

Jose's POV

I wake up at 3 in the afternoon near Sam, still recovering from her wound. I clean myself up and head out to the kitchen to eat food. As I head down the stairs, I see the others enjoying themselves in their personal spaces. As I near the kitchen, I get a text from Charlie.

C - How is Sam?

J - Still asleep and recovering, how was your meeting with Arthur? 

C - Went well. Just compiling the details we found and the actions that may take to make sure that we're all safe. 

J - Ok. See you. 

45 Minutes Later

Charlie's POV

I get home and I was greeted by Katie with a hug and kiss on the cheek. I was surprised by what she did but, I'm not complaining. "Welcome home Charlie." "Thanks." We had a short intimate moment before we were interrupted by Taylor. "Hey lovebirds, we're binge-watching movies right now. You can join us if you want."  "I'll join you guys later. I'll get some rest first, had a long day." "Sure thing Charlie, take your time." I first head to my office to compile the files that we have right now before heading upstairs to rest. As I was getting ready for sleep, someone knocks outside my room and as soon as I opened it, it was Katie. "You ok Charlie?" "Yeah, I'm good. It was a long day, that's all." "You sure? You don't sound ok." "Don't worry Katie, I'm alright. I just need some rest." "Ok if you say so." She slowly leaves the room to go watch with the others. I went to bed early knowing we had some progress and hopefully it will all go smoothly.
