Keith
I was nervous. It was the first day of school and now I had to face the people again... I didn't want to. The hair in my neck was standing up at the thought of it, it was just awful. I looked at myself in the mirror on my closet. Black t-shirt, black ripped jeans, ponytail. I noticed the dark circles under my eyes, it had been a hard night again. I had almost no energy left to drag myself to this god awful school, but I had to. After all, I keep my promises.

I quickly pulled the band out of my hair to let my bangs fall over my eyes and cover the dark circles as best as possible. You can look as presentable as you want in a ponytail, but no one needed to know about my struggle to sleep.

Slowly, I lumped my backpack over my shoulder and made my way downstairs and to the door. It was too early for me to think straight anyway, so I just yawned and stepped into my also black biker boots, before grabbing one of my leather jackets, the one with the spikes on the shoulders to make an impression, and even more slowly making my way down the street.

If it wasn't for my mum, I wouldn't even go to school anymore. I hate it there, I feel like I can't fit in, no matter what I do and there's a bunch of annoying people there that I just can't deal with. Not to mention, it's a minefield for triggering my anger issues. And believe me, once those are triggered, it isn't pretty. My mother, however, always wanted me to be normal, fit in, have a social life with friends and all that. And although I couldn't fulfill her wish of me having any friends or, by all means, a relationship, the least I could do was try going to school. Like I said, I don't break my promises and this felt like a silent promise to my mum to try, for her sake.

"Do you think there will be a hot girl in one of my classes this year?", I asked, eyes sparkling, but my best friend Hunk just shook his head. "Lance, how about you focus on the actual class this year? I mean, we don't have that much school left in our lives, it's about to get serious.", he argued and glanced at the paper in his hand to see where he had his first class. Hunk was right, of course he was. But I only hit on every girl I saw to keep up my image. It was time I put in some more work, it was totally embarrassing to not have had a single relationship with my age! I was a 17 year old virgin! How embarrassing is that?! And if anyone ever found out about this, I was toast, so I had to keep up the play.

Hunk and I made our way to our lockers. I guess in a way, we were loners in this huge school building, because neither of us had put in any real effort to get to know a lot of people these past few years. But now, we had like no classes together, so I was on my own and had to meet a bunch of new people. And don't get me wrong, I'm a total people person. I have a big family and I'm usually very social, but the truth is, especially large groups of people scare me and that's the way high school students moved. In packs. So no way I'm talking to any of them. Sure I had hit on some girls here and there, but not that many, really only when people I knew were around. So in conclusion, this was going to be one boring year with absolutely no friends to keep me company. Not only did I have no classes with Hunk, the same applied to my other friend, Pidge.

When I entered the room of my first class, maths, I found a decent seat in the back of the room next to the window and threw my backpack under the table that was now mine for the remainder of the year. Then, I let my head fall onto it. This was my life now. Alone, sad, and playing the anime protagonist at the window in the back. I sighed.

Only when the teacher entered did I look up. It was a young man I had seen around school sometimes. He had black hair with frosted tips and a genuine friendly smile. He was definitely a lady's man, I could already tell how all the girls melted for him, which I didn't like at all. After closing the door and placing his bag onto his desk, the guy leaned against it lazily. I had to admit he looked good, but that didn't give him the permission to hog all the girls' attention! He let his eyes wander across the room as if to check out the situation before he began to speak: "Good morning class, my name is Takashi Shirogane and I will be your tutor for this year." While he explained what exactly that meant and what they would be doing this school year, the door flew open with a bang. Everyone's heads whipped around to make out the cause of the interruption, only to see a boy stand in the doorframe. His face revealed he hadn't quite meant to burst the door open with such force, so he was shocked and a bit embarrassed. A few students snickered, but I huffed. The guy in the door had that whole bad boy vibe going on with his biker boots and ridiculously edgy leather jacket and ripped jeans and where those... fingerless gloves?! I rolled my eyes at this guy's level of edge. Additionally, the dark strands of hair in front of his eyes gave him a dangerous glare. I was super sure he also had to have a motorbike, I mean, he looked the part, he would be the type to own a bike. "Great.", I thought "Another chick magnet." It was between the friendly, older, handsome boyfriend material guy and the dark, broody, mysterious bad boy. No girl would ever look at me ever again! I could already feel my world slipping away, now I had nothing at all going for me this year.

"Ah, Mr Kogane, finally decided to show up, have you. You are fifteen minutes late, on the first day of school no less! Care to explain?", Mr Shirogane sighed and got up from his lazy lean on the table to stare the guy in the door directly in the eye. It was hard to believe such a young adult could show so much authority, the young teachers usually never did. The boy in the doorway just let out a "Tsk, whatever." and proceeded to take a free seat in the back right corner of the room, near the wall. I couldn't believe this guy. Who did he think he was? Mr Shirogane sighed again and decided to drop his lecture and instead continue with the lesson.

Class went on forever, but I survived just barely and packed my things to leave as one of the last people. My next class was in the room right next to this one, so I sank down between the two doors and caught a quick glimpse of the room I had just been in in the process. The kid from before was about to get up and leave when Mr Shirogane slowly went up to him. 'Ooh, someone's in trouble!", I thought. He was probably going to lecture the kid about punctuality and all that. I wanted to look away since it was none of my business, but I couldn't help myself. After all, this guy had made a scene on the very first day of school, of course I was interested to hear anything a mad teacher had to say about him.

Mr Shirogane bent over the table and looked at the kid, who ducked his head to avoid the teacher's gaze. I already couldn't remember what our teacher had called the boy, and honestly, I didn't care. The older man sat down onto the kid's table sideways and gently put his palm under the boy's chin to lift his head and make him look at Mr Shirogane. Honestly, this was outrageous! A teacher shouldn't touch a student like that, what kind of creep was he?! But then Mr Shirogane said something that almost made me choke on my own spit: "Hey, Keith." So that was the kid's name, but hadn't the teacher used his last name before? What had changed his attitude? "Why are you so distant? You know school is important, so why are you late already on the first day? I know we haven't seen each other in a while, but... you treat me like I'm not even here when you used to run up to me with a big smile every time you saw me... I remember you falling around my neck every time..." Mr Shirogane sounded sad as he said this, but what the hell was he talking about? The teacher didn't give me time to think though, instead, he gave my disbelief the final punch with what he said next: "Look at me, Keith. Don't you love me anymore?"

I just sat there in shock. What had he just said? Don't you love me anymore? I couldn't even grip a thought, I felt like my head was spinning. What had I just witnessed? Did I just hear it wrong? No, I was sure this was what he had said. Oh god, what was I going to do? Was I even going to do anything? My mind was racing back and forth when I heard the squealing of a chair being pushed back. I turned my head back to Keith and our teacher, where Keith had abruptly gotten up and pushed Mr Shirogane away. The teacher seemed taken aback by this action, but Keith had a bitter look on his face while attempting to walk to the door. The older man, however, quickly grabbed Keith's arm and held him back. "Just tell me what's wrong!", he pleaded "Did I do something?" Keith pulled his arm out of the man's grip, something I didn't think possible with how muscular and tall our teacher was. "I'm sorry Shiro, I... I have to go.", he said and ran to the door. I quickly turned my head away and looked at my shoes, so he wouldn't see I had witnessed anything. Keith, on the other hand, didn't seem to even notice I was there, which was probably for the best. What a clusterfuck of a morning this had been, and I wasn't even halfway through the day.
