Moon's POV

"Watson! Look what you've done to the globe." My eyes shot open and whipped towards the sound of crashing and the familiar voice of my lover. There on the ground, was Watson as Sherlock stood over him, scowling down at him as if all the worlds problems were because of the heavily padded gnome, who was struggling to get to his feet.
"Me? You're the one who kicked it."
"Because you ducked. The very reason you're wearing padding is so I can kick you."
"I am not your punching bag!"
"Don't be absurd. Of course you are."
Sherlock turned away and stared longingly in the distance. "Oh, how I miss having a proper enemy."
"Well, I'm sorry I'm not Moriarty." Watson snapped back, still trying to get up.
"Sherlock! Watson! Just look at this mess! How many times have I told you? If you want to practice fighting, do it outside!" Mrs. Udderson, basically the mother to us Gnomes in this abandoned garden.
"We're sorry, Mrs. Udderson." Watson said softly as he sighed in defeat. I gave a soft chuckle as Mrs. Udderson lifted to her usual spot in the tree above, my soft noise causing a certain gnome to turn in my direction. "And just what are you laughing at?" Sherlock murmured as he approached the stone that I was resting on. I glanced in the gnome's direction and slid off the rock smoothly, softly brushing past him.
"Nothing, just laughing at the fact that you have no regard for anyone's or.....anything's safety." I stated softly as I helped Watson to his feet and gestured to the dented globe on the ground.
Sherlock gave me a mocked hurt look and I simply rolled my eyes as I crossed my arms and turned away.
I hated that face.
I heard his soft footsteps approach and softly smirked.
"Oh my dear shining Moon~" He whispered as he placed his hands on my arms.
"Hmm?" I slightly turned my head towards his. I saw the soft smirk that had found its way on his features.
"The safety of others do not compete for it is your safety that out ways the rest." He spoke in a poetic tone as he turned me and held me close.
"Really?" I smiled knowingly as his forehead rested on mine.
"Yes..." He was about to take it further when suddenly a gnome ran into the garden.
"Sherlock Gnomes! Sherlock Gnomes!"
Watson turned towards the frightened gnome, still wearing half of the padding.
"And Dr. W... Ooh! Oof!"
The gnome just pushed Watson to the ground.
I facepalm as I walk to go help Watson again.
Sherlock regains his posture and stared down at the panicked gnome.
"Finally, a new case. What seems to be the trouble?"
"It's my friends. All my friends. The whole garden. They've disappeared. They're all gone!"
"A whole garden?" Watson questions as he regains his stance as well. I stand to the side, watching while thoughts raced through my head.
"Watson, gnomes are in danger. To the scene of the crime." Sherlock's voice breaks me out of my thoughts as he smirks softly.
*small timeskip*
"Breaking news!
While London prepares for its largest fireworks display ever, something barely newsworthy is happening in the gardens across the capital. Someone is out there stealing innocent gnomes. Like Barry. Barry was just sitting there, doing nothing. Now he's gone. And Barry is just the tip of the iceberg. Susan, Tim, Brad, gone. This weird gnome with his sparkly piano, gone! These gnomes on a pig, for no reason. I hope that's not ham on that pizza. All gone! The list goes on. When contacted, the police said... "We have no time for this. Please don't contact us again." They're clearly swamped. Some say it's a job for Sherlock Gnomes. Others say it's a slow news day."
The TV shuts off along with the lights of the house that three gnomes were temporarily occupying.
"Ugh. Humans are tiresomely naive. It is an ornamental crime on a scale we have never seen before." Sherlock turns from towards the garden from the top of the shed. Jumping down and landing softly in the grass below. "This garden alone lost 10 gnomes today." He murmured as Watson and I landed on the ground as well.
"Grass, perfectly even.
Soil, undisturbed.
Ant colony, thriving.
Do you see it, Watson?"
He spoke softly.
"Yes, there are no footprints." Watson stated matter-of-factly.
Sherlock didn't reply.
"Hmm. Hmm. Someone kidnapped all the gnomes from this backyard without leaving a single footprint." He stated sharply and continued forward.
Watson gave a lonely sigh.
I approached and placed a soft hand on his shoulder. He glanced over to me and chuckled as he noticed my constant watch over the detective.
"How can you stand him?" He questioned softly. I looked at him but saw only a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. I smiled and returned my gaze to the gnome that stole my heart.
"I don't know." I mumbled.
Watson shook his head. "I mean what do you see in him? What makes you think that Sherlock is the one for you?" He gave me a questionable look.
I sighed and closed my eyes. Thinking about it for a moment.
Why do I love him?
Smiling softly, I spoke.
"He has his moments, his charming ways, his good looks, and even though he has a massive ego and can be a jerk because of it, I can tell he truly cares."
Watson nodded as if taking the answer in then producing a smile of his own.
"Of course."
