Chapter One - All By Myself
“Wake up!” I hear someone yelling into my face. I gasp in surprise, and quickly open my eyes, sitting up. I look up at the man standing in front me. His eyes were blue, though they were hard to see. He had no hair, and his face was thin with a very thick layer of beard. His gaze was pointing at me. His eyes were squeezed together, but it did not fit him. It made him look very harsh. Or was that the whole point?
“What’s your name” he asks me and crosses his arm across his chest. “What?” I ask confused. What did he want? What was this? The room was small. A grey colored wall. No lovely furniture. Only a thin plastic table and a plastic chair. The one I was sitting on. A big mirror was hanging on the wall. I could see myself in it. It looked like an interrogate room. Like the ones, you saw in movies. But why had I ended up here? What had I done?
“Your name” he says, obviously annoyed by the situation. “Where am I?” I ask. “What have I done?” The man rolls his eyes. He was tired of me, I could tell. “Just answer this very simple question!” he hisses at me. I was scared for a second that he might hit me. Had I been kidnapped or something?
I breathe and swallow before answering his question. “Judette.” I say, looking down. “My name is Judette.”
“Good...” I hear him say quietly. “Now, tell me, why you did it?” he is resting his hand on the table. I look up at him again, furrowing my eyebrows, confused. “Do what?” He is rolling his eyes again. “Don’t lie to me, Judette. Just tell me the truth, and we can get the hell out of here!” he is slowly raising his voice. I keep my eyebrows furrowed. What did he exactly mean? What had I done? Why was I here? Why was there this person asking me all these weird questions. Questions I did not even knew the answers to.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” I tell him, looking him in the eye. He must somehow could tell, that I told him the truth. He had to believe me. I didn’t know what to tell him. He sighs and looks down at his hands. “Well… If you are not going to tell me…” he said, smirking. “I am just going to force it out of you,” he said eyeing me. He raised one brow before he spoke again. “With violence” he grinned. I gasp, and lean against the chair back. What? No. He could not do that! I had nothing to tell him. I didn’t know what he wanted. “I don’t know what to tell you-..” I quickly say, while he took a step closer. “Just the truth” he said as if it was the easiest thing in the entire world. “I cannot tell you something I don’t know” I try to explain to him. He did not look very convinced. He took another step closer, playing with his knuckles, pointing them out one by one, which one was the strongest, and which one would hurt the most. “Trust me” my voice start to panic. It sounded much weaker than I had imagined. “Trust me!” I could feel the tears burning in my eyes. “I don’t know what you’re talking about” the tears were streaming now.
