(Third person POV)
"When Aro wants someone from a coven, it's never long before evidence turns up proving that coven committed some crime." Eleazar explained.
"So he's done this before?" Bella asked, evening was scattered around the Cullen's living room. Jasmine sat next to Carlisle, looking up at Eleazar as he explained things further.
"It's happens so rarely, I never realized it was a pattern." Eleazar spoke.
"Apparently he always pardons one person, who's thoughts he claims are repentant." Carlisle added, gently placing a hand on Jasmine's shoulder.
"This person always has an ability. And they're always given a place within the guard." Eleazar finished.
"This is all about Alice," Edward began, "he has no one like her."
"Which is why she left." Bella slightly snapped.
"Why does he need witnesses?" Emmett asked.
"To spread the word that Justice has been served." Alastair said, everyone looking at him. "After he slaughters an entire coven." Carmen grabbed Tanya's hand, Carlisle gently squeezing Jasmine's shoulder, her uneven beating heart, going faster.
"Benjamin, Tia, we're leaving." Amun said, looking at his other coven members.
"And where will you go? What makes you think they'll be satisfied with Alice? What's to stop them from going after Benjamin next? Or Zafrina, or Kate, or Jasmine, or anyone else with a gift? Anyone they want?" Edward spoke. "Their goal isn't punishment, it's power. It's acquisition. Carlisle may not ask you to fight, but I will. Not for the sake of my family, but also for yours. Live the way you want to live." After a short amount of silence, Jacob stood up.
"That packs will fight. We've never been afraid of vampires." Jacob said, Jasmine slightly smirking at him.
"We will fight." Tanya said, standing up.
"It wouldn't be the first time I fought against a kings rule." Garrett said, he then looked at Jasmine. "What do you say, my little demon? Ready to show what you're made of?"
"Aye, I will fight." Jasmine's real voice coming out. "What?" She looked around the room. "I was born and raised in Scotland. I spent too much time in London." Small laughter could be herd around the room.
"We will join you." Benjamin spoke up.
"No." Amun said.
"I will do the right thing, Amun. You may do as you please." Benjamin spoke back.
"We will stand with you." Senna spoke.
"So will we." Siobhan said, herself, Maggie and Liam standing up. The nomads agreed as well, all of them standing proud and tall, courage spreading through their bodies.
"That didn't take much." Vladimir said to Stefan.
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Edward said.
"We'll see." Alistair said to Carlisle. Everyone dispersed, some staying in the living room, others going to their borrowed rooms, more specifically, Jasmine. Esme has given her Edward's old bedroom, since girls needed their privacy.
She walked to the bed, kneeled down and took out the small chest she carried everywhere. Inside it was was a necklace (pic at top) and the last and only letter she received from her mother.
'My dearest daughter, in this chest you will find the only belonging of your father. He was the most beautiful man I have ever seen, very clever and kind too. But he and I come from different worlds, if his world were to discover me or you, we'd be killed. For his world is dark and grey, whereas ours is full of color. My love, I hope you take care of the necklace and hopefully meet him one day, as you will never meet me. But just know you will always be loved, no matter where I am. Have courage, be kind and never forget who you are. I love you, my darling little girl, my little Mary.'
Jasmine sat on her bed, tears clouding her eyes as she read the letter she's read over a million times. 'Mary' was the name her birth mother gave her, her adoptive parents gave her the name 'Jasmine', she loves both names, but is more used to Jasmine.
"Hey," Jasmine quickly put the letter back in the chest and closed it, "you alright?" Garrett leaned against the doorway, looking at his best friend/daughter figure of three years.
"Yeah, just thinking about what comes next, that's all."
