Fall 2005. The brothers sat in a cozy eatery in a small town in Illinois. It was early morning, and there were no visitors at all, only a sleepy, pretty waitress kept pouring a new portion of strong coffee.
Sam Winchester focused his eyebrows to the bridge of his nose, reading the headlines and, at the same time, studying the news on his own old laptop, which lived out the last century. He was so carried away that the coffee in his mug cooled down and became covered with a thin , unpleasant-looking film because he drank coffee with milk . The guy's long bangs kept falling into his eyes every now and then, and he had to constantly put it in the side, but it again climbed into his face. Finally, Sam surrendered, peering out from under his bangs, as if from under a curtain.
Meanwhile, his older brother Dean was sitting at the counter and talking to the waitress about something. The girl kept smiling, and it was clear that he was flirting with her. Sam rolled his eyes tiredly when he saw her in a hurry writing her number on a napkin and leaving a trace of her lipstick on it. Dean smiled broadly and cast a fleeting glance at his brother, as if showing off .
Suddenly, Sam came across a very interesting headline about yesterday's news release. Sam picked up the newspaper and looked at the article. Not a remarkable paragraph, even without a photo - Sam himself was surprised that he could notice it.
"Hey, Dean!" he shouted and without looking waved his hand, summoning his brother to him. Dean reluctantly looked up from the conversation with the attractive waitress and went to Sam's desk.
"What?"
"There seems to be something" admitted Sam Winchester.
"Missouri, Louisiana? Where?"
" Actually, Chicago"
Sam handed the newspaper to his brother, and he began to read aloud.
"The corpse escaped from Chicago morgue... Sammy, are you serious?" Dean was surprised "More like a rumor. There is not even a photo"
"It's worth checking, we are in the same state" his brother decided "What shall we lose? It is strange, however, that the article was not placed on the headline, but published only on the third page"
"Yes, because everyone understands that this is a rumor" insisted Dean "Okay, you win. I wanted to look at Chicago for so long"

After a couple of hours of driving, Chicago met the brothers with its grandeur and gloomy beauty: dark skyscrapers, so high that they covered the sun, and many similar streets. Dean was a little disappointed. Perhaps he expected to see bandits and the mafia, shootings of people in three-piece suits, as in the films of the 50s. But there was nothing of the kind. It was just a city with completely ordinary people. Dean yawned tiredly and hit the steering wheel a couple of times.
"It says in which morgue did this happen?" he asked, deciding to go straight to the point.
"No" said Sam, studying the paper length and breadth "Most likely, we will need to look for the newspaper and the author of the article. Fortunately, there is the name "Johnny Spellman".
"Do you know where this edition is?"
Sam turned the newspaper and examined the address, written in small print right under the logo printed edition «Chicago News».
"Yes. We are going there"
Dean surprisingly quickly orientated on the Chicago roads and parked the car right at the entrance to the editorial office. He got out of the car and straightened his pulled-up jacket. Sam pulled some fake IDs from the glove compartment.
