“Do they have her?” A smooth cadence inquired.
“Yes. We found her trying to hide. With all the noise she was making it wasn’t hard to find her. Foolish girl.”
“Was she damaged?”
“No, the process went over well, no permanent damage.”
“Good. Your life would be forfeit if anything were to happen to her.”
There was silence.
The smoky voice continued its questioning.
“Was it a Crown?”
“It was gone before we could define its nature.” The second voice shook with nervousness.
“What did we lose?”
Hesitation.
“A… a Bishop.”
There was an angry hiss, and the sound of flesh being struck.
“Get out of my sight!” The once smooth voice turned deadly. “Worthless trash!”
“I will make it up to you sir, I swear I will.” It gasped through its hands.
The voice chuckled darkly. “No matter, I have more to play my game.”
