Bacon.
I wake to the smell of breakfast. I check the clock and it reads 8:20 in the morning. I grab my slippers and head to the bathroom. I shut the door behind me. I look at myself in the mirror and wasn't surprised to see a horrendous view. I do my morning routine to get ready for the day. After I have done my routine, I go downstairs to see mother making eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The typical American breakfast.
I grab a minimized set of food and slowly take my time to eat it. I must have look upset due to my lack of effort in eating. I look up and see mother finished cooking and staring at me. I gave her the what question look.
"Are you upset that we moved here?" she asked.
"Why would I be?" To tell you the truth, yes I was. It would have not matter if I discussed the situation before with her. She would not budge her decision about moving to Seattle.
"You're sending off the feeling that you hate this place already and want to move back to England." she replied.
"I hardly know this place to give it a judgment opinion. Yes I do miss England already and want to go to my safe and comfort zone." I said.
"Give Seattle more time and I can guarantee you it will grow on you." mother gave me a smile.
"Will do." I sarcastically answer back.
"Good, now finish your breakfast so you can unpack your things and help me with the rest of the stuff. We have much to do today." she walked off into the living room.
"Wait, aren't you going to eat breakfast?" I loudly questioned.
"I already ate while you were sleeping." she shouts back from the next room.
Some kind of family breakfast. I wouldn't say it was a family. We were more of a separated family. Believe me I love my mother, it simply isn't the same without my father being around anymore. We will reunite after we face death.
Once I am finished with my meal, I go into the living room to grab my items one at a time and take it to my bedroom. One reason I despite this house so much, is the fact that it is a window glass house. Curse mother for choosing a house like this.
I go back downstairs into the living room back and forth until I have retrieved all my items. I will first start on bed than my clothes than the rest of my items.
-
Three o'clock in the afternoon has just hit. I was done doing my room and as well as my mothers. I figured it wouldn't take more than two hours. The bed process took loads of time and released the frustration of me. I was so kind enough to arrange her bedroom. I search for my mother and find her in the living room. My mother still has not completed arranged the rest of the whole area. Well she did start an hour later so it was her mistake.
"Still haven't finished I see?" I smirk.
"Don't even start with me young lady. I am certainly not in the mood for your cocky attitude" she replies back still arranging.
Good gracious, her hair is beyond me. Her hair is already dysfunctional and unorganized. She looks tired and a mess. It looks like a hurricane has just passed through her.
"I always win." I grin.
"Why don't you go explore Seattle?"
"You know what, I most certainly will." I retrieve the car keys from the coffee table.
"I'll be back shortly. Won't take much. I'll be faster than you can say death" I say those words right when I exit the house.
I got in the vehicle and off I went to find whatever is nudging me to go into the city. Traffic is terrible these days, even Seattle.
I past some shops and stores but none interested me. I wasn't up for shopping right now. I turn the corner of the busy street and my eye catches something. It's a cute little book shop. I park on the side of street and get out of the car.
I make sure I lock the car before anything else. I walk up the stairs to the shop. I enter the shop and find nobody in sight.
I roam the shop like a lion stalks a gazelle. I see several books that are interesting. One book catches my eye as if It was calling my name. It labeled as 'Shatter Me'' by Tahereh Mafi. That is quite an interesting name. I gather some other books that I will reading later on.
I go up to the front to purchase them. I ring the bell to signal an employee to come to my service. A older woman appears in seconds. She seems if she is 65 years young. Her skin looking so soft and elegant while it drags loosely. Her ocean blue crystal eyes gives off it's dull reflection with healthy hair.
"Good evening, how may I help you today?"
"I want to purchase these books and get going." I say briskly.
"Yes of course." She grabs the books gently and scans them to get my amount of money I have to pay.
"That would be $49.98 in total."
I hand her the money and get my receipt and books making my way out until I was hauled with a soft sweet voice.
"Excuse me but are you interested working here dear?" the old woman questioned looking at me.
"I would love to! But after school and on the weekends." I answer.
She gave me a nod "You are hired."
I thanked her and walked out the door closing it. I turn around and nearly get knocked over by another human. I look up to see a tall boy with very sharp features. Dark brown fluffy and soft hair with dark blue eyes giving a dominance look. Sharp cheekbones as if you can use it as a knife. His clothing giving him an isolated person vibe.
His arms catching me my arms "My apology love. It was not my intention to run into you." His eyes piercing through me.
"But never run into me ever again." a growl escaped his lips.
No words came out but silence. I was shocked by his voice tone all of sudden. He was quite confusing to read. He was observing my face as a hawk would.
I stuttered and whispered " I'm sorry, It won't happen again."
I quickly fast pace towards my car, unlock it, and get it. As I'm leaving and driving on the road, I see him still standing at the exact spot staring at me.
