The lunch prep went smooth since it was what we were over prepared for, the rest of the afternoon when by in a blur. I was in the kitchen with Mary, we were making ourselves some simple sandwiches for dinner.

"I can't believe I didn't get to see him yet. Maybe I should try harder tomorrow."

Mary was talking about Mr. Ivers son, they had been gone for dinner for about an hour. Apparently she had not seen him yet as she had been complaining about it for a few minutes now.

"You better not even think about it Mar. I see those gears turning in your head." I point at her head and make circular motions with my finger. "You are going to do something to get in trouble."

We walk over and sit at the island with our sandwiches and giant glasses of water. After working so frantically today we were both thirsty.

"Oh fine. Lets change the subject.... like to what your going to do next month for your 18th birthday?"

I just looked at her and continued to chew my sandwich. She knew I didn't do anything for my birthday. For one we didn't really do anything at the orphanage and second I didn't even know if it was my real birthday so why bother?

"Come on Ell, at least let me make you a cake or something. I know Annette would let me."

I look at her for a few seconds, "Fine." I cave.

"Eeeeee, Yay! It's going to be a surprise I'm not even gonna let you pick the flavors!"

I just roll my eyes at her but grin at her over excitement at it. We continue chatting and finish our meals. As I get up to clean up our mess Annette walks in.

"Hey girls, are you the last to eat?" she asks as she walk over to the fridge.

"Yea, how are you Annette?" Mary asks.

"Oh fine I'm just going to have a light dinner then go to bed."

I walk over and take Mary's empty plate and glass, "Why don't you go get ready for bed Mary, I'll do the final kitchen check since I slept in this morning."

"Don't gotta tell me twice, Night." she replies as she hopes up and hurries out of the room before I can change my mind.

I just shake my head at her as I walk to the sink and do our dishes. I finish and start to wipe the counters off that's when I notice Annette sitting at the island with her head resting on her arm on top of the island. I walk over to her to see she is falling asleep.

I frown at her and gently shake her arm, "Annette, don't fall asleep here. You will get a crick in your neck."

She starts and sits up strait, I don't know what she had for dinner but her plate is empty so I take it.

"Oh Kellsey, I can do that." She reaches for the plate.

"Now way, you go to bed too. I'll finish in here. Is there anything else you need to do?"

"No. Well, I was going to cover the tomatoes with a tarp it suppose to get pretty cold tonight."

"I can do that, It's in the shed right?"

"Yea on the back shelf, thank you."

I walk over and put her plate in the sink, "No problem, today was draining for you. You should go to bed."

She just nods and yawns before heading down to the girls room.

I decide I will cover the tomatoes after closing the kitchen down so I can just crawl into bed after being outside in the cold.
