"Sera?" I said, still unsure if it was really her. "Yeah, the one and only" she replied with a sigh, "Do you... Hate me?" She had an almost pained expression; I could hear the guilt and regret echoing through her words. "No... I hate them... I could never hate you" I said because, while the past was even more painful without her, I never stopped loving her.
After a moment of silence, she pulled me towards her, whispered into my ear, "thank you" and held me tight, as if I would disappear into nothingness if she let go.
In that moment, it was like my entire childhood of torment slowly melted away in our long overdue embrace. And while I knew that there was more to come after this fateful meeting, I was content.
