The time where love once again dies.
She held her champagne glass by the stem and twirled the liquid inside it.
"12:02 AM.." She sighed.
It was clear, from her golden watch that was given as an engagement gift. It was over again. Even so, she felt numb. It was better than feeling anything, maybe it was because she was slightly drunk? Who knows, she didn't care anymore.
After all those years, the lack of her husband , Alex near her doesn't even surprise her anymore. After all, it WAS 12.. midnight. Well over their anniversary. She refused to understand why she would dress up and prepare a fancy homemade dinner ,perfect for two every year, on this day. She knows that their love died years ago. She even started to think it was all an illusion from time to time. Why is she still waiting for him yet again? Why Is she waiting for something as stupid as a short text saying "I love you" or "happy anniversary". Even hoping for him to text that he couldn't come back home. She tightly gripped her phone to conceal her cowardly emotions. She felt hopeless as even planning for days to call him failed in the end. Every courage and strength was defeated by every pitiful excuse. In the end, all she could do was to get drunk and stare at her phone.
"If only-"
Her eyes widen as she stopped mid-sentence. She almost forgot how to breath. As if God had answered her prayers, she got a call from Alex. It was only after a few seconds did she finally swipe call.
"..Alex..?" She said, almost a whisper.
