I'M ALIVE! Also, past AU!
~~~~~~~~~~~Sans was walking through a blizzard. An unexpected snow storm was passing through Snowdin while he was at the store.
His feet sunk through the white snow as more falling from the sky clouded his vision. He squinted his eye(sockets?), and moved his right arm over his head to block any snow from falling into his eyes as he tucked the grocery back between his chest and left arm. He kept moving forward.
"Hey! Stop!"
Sans didn't look as he started to try and move faster, afraid that the mystery monster would be a less than friendly encounter. He struggled to lift his feet up from the rapidly building snow.
"Wait!"
Sans stopped. The voice didn't sound like an adults. It sounded like the monster was around his own age. A boy nonetheless. Sans turned around to face him, still a little weary if this boy was to be trustworthy or not.
A fire elemental is what Sans was faced with. Now that he was up close, Sans could hear crackling from the flames on the boy's head. Along with a comforting warmth that enveloped him. He was taller than Sans because, well you know, Sans is a small child. He wore a thick brown turtle neck sweater and black jeans, and a pair of boots.
Sans almost questioned why he didn't have snow gear on- And how he hasn't died from hypothermia- When he remembered that he's made of literal fire.He bent down to Sans' eye level, immediately grabbing Sans attention.
"What are you doing out here? Its dangerous during a snow storm!"
Sans shuffled his feet as he avoided eye contact. The boy spotted the bag in Sans' arm. He made a disapproving noise as he looked back to meet Sans's eyes.
"Why do you have a grocery bag? The shops closed by now." He told him.
Was it just him, or was Sans getting shorter?
"Oh! Your feet are sinking and your shivering! Come on, I know a place that could warm you up!"
He lifted Sans up and outstretched his hand, waiting till Sans grasped it, then turned and walked in a unknown direction. The boy tried to start a conversation.
"What's your name? I'm Grillby, by the way." He informed Sans.
"S-Sans." He stuttered, speaking for the first time since they met. Grillby hummed a bit with a smile.
"That's a font. Comic Sans, right?" He asked curiously. Sans bowed his head down bashfully before nodding, an embarrassed blush tinting his cheeks a bit.
"You don't talk a lot, do you?"
Sans shook his head.
Grillby made another humming noise, squeezing Sans hand a bit before letting go.
Sans looked ahead of him and saw a small brick building, yellow light pouring out the windows. Grillby stepped up the stairs and pulled out a key from his pocket, unlocking the door and stepping back.
"After you." He said, using a playful formal voice.
Sans giggled a bit before shivering and stepping into the building, immediately being engulfed in a comforting warmth. He sighed happily before dealing his bag on a booth table and pulling down his hood.Grillby walked up to him.
"My uncle won't be happy if he found something missing, but would you like something to eat?" Grillby asked him.
Sans shook his head, feeling guilt wash over him if Grillby were to get in trouble just to feed him, until his stomach made its decision to rumble, loudly.
'Please be quiet!' Sans mentally willed, but he heard Grillby chuckle a bit before speaking again.
"I think your stomach has other plans. Hold on a minute, I'll get you something!" Grillby smiled and walked off to a door that read, 'Fire Exit'.
Sans tapped his bony fingers, his eyes drooping as he released a sad sigh.
Grillby was going through all this trouble just to help him. He let him stay in this building, he helped him through the storm, he's even making him something to eat!
Though, just thinking about it, it made his heart flutter knowing that someone cared about him. I mean, besides his brother.
Sans should do something to return the favor! It's not fair that Grillby did all this for him!
Sans put on a determined face and grabbed the bag he had. He reached in and pulled out a bar of chocolate before putting the bag back on the table, away from him.
His dad certainly won't like it, but he was gonna give this to Grillby!
He smiled and placed the bar in his pocket before returning back to his thoughts.
Sans doesn't know how long he was thinking- minutes? Hours? A few seconds?- But when he returned to the present he saw a plate of fries in front of him, and a ketchup bottle. He looked up a bit more and saw Grillby sitting across from him, a look of worry on his face. He pushed up his glasses.
"I called your name, but you never responded! What happened? Something wrong?" He asked, leaning forward.
Sans rapidly shook his head, waving his hands in front of him as he clarified that nothing is wrong.
Grillby leaned back against the seat, releasing a relieved sigh. He smiled.
"Good. I thought something bad happened while I was away." He said, chuckling.
Sans giggled, smiling as he reassured he was fine, before he gasped.
He forgot about the chocolate!
He whined a bit- Why am I so stupid?!- before pulling out the chocolate and handing it to Grillby.
Once he released the bar he nervously tapped his fingers together, turning his head away.
"I-I wanted to t-thank you for d-doing this..." He sheepishly said.
Grillby waved his hand nonchalantly before opening the wrapping, but instead of eating it, he broke it in half and handed the other half to Sans, a kind smile on his face with a small red blush on his face.
Sans looked at him in confusion before grabbing the half and nibbling it a bit.
A moment passed in comfortable silence as they ate.
Sans dismissed himself from his seat and grabbed the bag, telling Grillby he should be leaving now that the storm has calmed a bit.
"Oh! Before you go-" Grillby grabbed Sans by the arm and handed him a small Styrofoam box. He explained that it had some food in it for later.
Sans smiled, placing it in his bag, before hugging Grillby. Since Sans barely reaches his chin, Sans had to wrap his bony arms around his abdomen, burying his face as his cheeks burned bright blue.
Grillby, shocked, blushed his own blue as he slowly wrapped his arms around the small skeleton hugging him. Both smiled.
I think they're gonna be great friends, don't you?
