"Anne, are you okay." I looked up at Sprig, "sure never felt better." I say, even though my voice sounds fake even to me. "Everyone knows that what happened to Wartwood isn't your fault. You can't keep holding yourself accountable," Sprig insists though I know that he and all the other frogs must be hugely disappointed in me. The whole town probably regrets welcoming me into their community. They're likely wondering what possessed them to vote for me. Anne of the year. More like Anne the biggest let down.

I hug my knees firmly to my chest, afraid to let go and close my eyes as tightly as I can. "That's not the point Sprig. I let Sash boss me around my whole life. She manipulated me and I thought she was my best friend. Her betrayal made me realise I also acted manipulative with you guys. It was me who told Hop Pop to sell falsely marketed juice, me who told you that you couldn't be my friend unless you swam with me out in the pond. I've been a horrible selfish friend."

I wipe away the tears stubbornly forming and stand up. "That changes today, from now on I'm going to be the best friend ever in the history of friends. Sprig what do you want to do today?" "Are you sure, you don't need to change yourself. You're already a pretty great friend. You can't let Sasha get to you."

"Thanks, Sprig."

"You know in two days we'll be able to make the journey past the mountains out of Wartwood. We'll miss you." I look at Sprig and the Plantar's house behind me. I'll miss this place too. It might not have Wi-Fi safety or other humans, but it had something I'd never had back home. True friends.
