a letter to her

give a bored man a sliver of your heart,
your acknowledgment and watch
how he makes that little piece of something
his whole world by breaking it
into a million tiny shards.

take in that wild glint playing in his eyes
as he smiles with sick satisfaction,
drool dribbling down his chin
with the taste of you stuck on his lips
and between his teeth.

have you realized it by now,
that the sting in your chest
is from that broken piece,
your adoration and trust being used
as a plaything for a monster's amusement?

– a letter i will never send.
