The chimes of the church bell rang out across the silent forest. 4 AM. The wind roared in my ears. The morning dew on the forest floor tickled my paws as I sprinted. My inner wolf was free... for now. In a few hours the sun would rise and I would be contained by the human world again.

But for the last few minutes of dark, I was alone and free. I let out shrill howl, letting myself out, only to be silenced by a cold, sinister growl. I stopped in my tracks.

Two piercing yellow eyes seemed to stare right through me, as if looking through my wolf to my human self. The slowly rising sun was now partly visible through the trees, allowing me to see my opposition, as it let out another growl.

Its silky fur was a ginger-brown colour, and the wolf was smaller than myself, clearly a young female.

There are no wolves in Willowcombe, I thought to myself, confused by what I was seeing.

Another deafening howl sounded in the distance, and soon the young wolf had gone.

Only now I knew one thing, I wasn't the only one of my kind around. I could finally get answers. Answers to all my unanswered questions. What was I? Where do I come from? All of them. I just had to find her again.
