Hailee P.O.V
Nova was cradling the baby in her arms. I heard crying and hoped that everyone else was okay.
"How did you know?" I asked. She shushed me.
"I saw a masked man walk in there from the back. He was trying to kill all of us. We need to stay quiet." She whispered holding the baby tighter so she wouldn't cry. There was smoke everywhere and it was hard to breathe. Nova was covering the baby's mouth and noise with her hand. I heard scuffling and Nico scrambled over.
"Are you two okay?" He whispered. We nodded. "Adams is looking over the debris. He wants us to get out of here. By walking. Olivia, Jak, and Phoenix have the other two kids. Let's go." He helped me up and we crouched down to stay hidden. We stayed like that until we found Olivia, Jakob and Phoenix. I quickly grabbed the three year old before she ran into the street.
"Hey, what's your name darling?" I asked her.
"I'm Melanie." She said. Phoenix grabbed Nova and once again they started to talk out if earshot. Olivia asked the 5 year old what her name was.
"Christy." She mumbled holding onto Olivia's hand. Olivia nodded. Nova and Phoenix started walking and the rest of us followed them. Making sure we kept the distance so they still talk in private.
When we got to Nova's apartment, Phoenix instantly went to make them a snack and with help from Olivia, a bottle for the baby. Nova sat down on the couch with the baby and kids. Her phone rang.
"Hailee, can you get that? It's my mom." She asked nodding to her phone. I nodded and awnsered the phone.
"Hi Mrs. Lee. It's Hailee." I said walking out to the balcony.
"Hi Hailee dear. Is my daughter available to come to her phone?" Her mother asked.
"Not at the moment. Or for a while. She wasn't feeling well so she is taking a shower and getting ready to lay down. But I can take a message." I said staring at the traffic beneath me.
"Just tell her that her father and I are going to be home a month later then expected. And that Phoenix should stay longer if possible."
"Of course. Have a nice day Mrs. Lee."
"You too darling." She said and hung up. When I walked back into the living room Olivia and Phoenix were handing out snacks and gave a bottle to Nova.
"Your parents are gonna be like a month later. If it's possible they want Nix to stay until they get home." I said sitting her phone down and snatching the computer from Nico. Nova nodded.
"Jakob, Liv, do you think you two could go to the store with the kids and get them some clothes. And some for the baby." Nova asked. They nodded and grabbed the kids and took them to the store.
"Guys, we've run out of suspects. Steve couldn't have done it because he's with Adams every day when the murders and kidnappings are taking place. Nova nodded as her phone rang again. She awnsered.
"Hello?" Pause. "No. No. No. Did you see a face?" Pause. "It was one hundred percent him? In the flesh?" Longer pause. "Why would he tell you?" Pause. "Thank you Seth." She hung up the phone and stared at us.
"Nova?" I asked.
"Our assassin visited Seth."
"Who is it?" I asked excitedly.
"Jorge Garcia."
