After that day, I never saw her again. I really did try to find her in crowded stands at the game, but came with no results. I asked a few people about her, but as she had said, she was a nobody no one knew about.

And for the rest of the year, I never found her. After a while, I stopped looking, but I never forgot the short, quirky girl I had met. I had always secretly hoped to find her again, but no such thing happened.

And now, the year passed, and the summer along with it. And now, Senior year. Last year in this place. In this town. College next year, and then to find a job, and settle somewhere. And still, no sign of Rubin. At lunch, I left the guys at the table, and walked around hoping to find the quiet classroom I wanted to find. On the third floor, rarely used by teachers. I entered a near dark room, that had the windows propped wide open and curtains floating back in the light breeze.

"Hello? Anyone here?" I called out. When no one responded, I walked in, and sat in a chair, looking outside. I let myself sink into the chair, and closed my eyes.

"Business hours are over, you know. Come back after lunch for pictures of your ex's or whatever."  girl's voice said. I jolted in surprise, and opened my eyes. A girl walked into the room, and walked to a closet in the corner of the room. She pulled it open, and pull out a chair. Not a regular chair like the ones sitting around the room. It was a small couch, with red velvet cushioning. I gaped at it, not moving from my place by the window. She finally settled it down by the window and took out some lunch. She looked to me amused and smirked.

"And what can I do for you, Leo Brently." She said. And then it clicked in my head.

"Rubin." That was the only word that I could say. She looked at me, quirking an eyebrow, and smiled.

"Well, it seems like you haven't forgotten who I am, Mr. Popular." She said playfully. I smiled at her. A genuine smile that I rarely seemed to use these days.

"Of course I remember you. You can leave a very deep impression." I replied, smiling brightly. She laughed and sat back. I inspected her figure. Her hair was longer, down to her waist. She wore a lavender tunic, with ropes laying to the sides. And a pair of skinny jeans and black flats. And no fake glasses today.

"You look, different." I said to her. She shrugged and pulled at her shirt.

"Same old, just maybe my face. Maybe some wrinkles." She smiled with amusement. She then looked at me.

"And you looked exactly the same from the last I saw of you, this morning." She said. I looked at her in surprise.

"You have classes with me?" I asked dumbly. She nodded.

"Two in the morning and one in the afternoon. The fact you didn't know this surprises me." She said, solemnly. We were silent for a moment, and then a small clock went off. She ran to it, and turned it off.

"Well, you should be heading out." She said. I looked at her in question, and she answered while turning a sign on the door. "The bell will ring soon, and I am opening business." I got up, and patted off my butt. I walked out and then turned back to her.

"I'll be looking for you this afternoon." I said, smiling cheekily. She smiled with amusement.

"You're bound to find me. Just like in the books." She said. I left and smiled. It was nice to meet her again.

After 8th period, I was starting to lose hope. She wasn't in any classes, and I noticed no one absent that I already knew was there. And then finally, half way through the class, the door bursted open.

"Miss Nicks, welcome. You are a little early today." The teacher said. I turned to the door, and there stood Rubin. She didn't seem fazed by everyone's stares.

"Yeah, Robert decided to check the room early." The teacher scolded her for calling a teacher by his first name, and she shrugged. She moved to the back of the room. Once seated, she smiled to me and leaned to a boy to her right. He handed her a folder and she flipped through it. She smiled and thanked him. He rolled his eyes and went back to class. And so did I.

---

After school, I went to practice and then showered. Once everyone left, I chose then to go to the third floor. I opened the door, and saw that Rubin was talking with a serious expression with the boy from 8th. When they heard the door, they both looked up. The guy said one last thing and then he sat away at the chair by the window. Rubin hurriedly stacked the papers and pictures and shoved them into the teacher desk in the front of the classroom.

"Hi. Did I come at a bad time?" I finally said while Rubin was shoving in the last papers. She looked up at me and shook her head.

"Nope. I was just finishing off an old order. Teddy was helping." She said, shoving the drawer closed. I nodded slowly and stood there awkwardly.

"So..." I said, trailing off. Everyone was really quiet. Me at the door. Rubin by the desk. And the boy, Teddy on the couch. Finally, Teddy stood up.

"I guess I should introduce myself." He said, putting out his hand for me to shake. "Theodore Rignoso. Friend of Rubin and Co." I looked at him. A teal blue jumper, white shirt underneath. He was wearing black dress pants and black, leather dress shoes. A pair of thin, long, black glasses sat high on his nose. I looked at Rubin in question, but she just shrugged.

"And I am- "

"Leo Brently. We all know who you." Theodore said and Rubin laughed hysterically, and then patted my on the back.

"See. I told you. It's just like the books." Rubin said, smiling. Theo rolled his eyes, and went back to sitting down.

"You and your books. Some day you're going to have to leave that dreamland." He mumbled quietly. She sighed and sat by the window in a regular chair.

"Yeah, but until then. I'll stay here. In my dreamland." And with that said. The wind blew in, giving her a wise and relaxed look. Even a tint of beautiful in her expression.
