We all know how to get there : Astral Travel.
If you do not know yet how to Travel, I recommend researching it now. So many have covered the topic already, and I don't feel patient enough to do it again.The basics are simple. A thread that links mind and body, and a vast, limitless and grandiose realm to explore. It's fantastically fascinating, at first. The decors change everytime, one day you are in a realm of magician and dragons, the other, a wolf in a forest, rushing toward your unsuspecting prey.
If you stay in the line, that's what there is to do. A few spirits here and there, but usually, nothing to mean. You can probably sort it out without much struggle. From time to time an unlucky fella encounter something that doesn't want him good, but we close our eye and pretend it's nothing important.
It's when you start to get used to it that things get risky. You'll learn that dreaming can also lead to Travels, and you'll get better and better at them, going further an further.
Until one day, you get lost. You'll find your way back for sure. Someone will do, at least.
So, what to expect, and how to deal with it?
I will arrange this part in different levels.
The first is the beginner. Meditation, and quick, unsuccessful travels. Mindscapes.
The second is the witch. Lucid dreams, Astral Travel, and invocation/evocation.
The third is the traveler. Leaving the known, breaking the rules, and knowing.

So. To start, the beginner.
There is no dangers in this step really, aside from energy exhaustion.Meditation let's you explore your own mind and how it interacts with your body. It's important to form the link between the two, used in Travel.
It's in fact the problem that beginners most often have, too many links that restrain the mind into the body, letting glimpses of the astral be seen, but not much else.
It's a frustrating part, for sure.But be careful not to skip it too fast.
Mindscapes are similar. They are your own pocket universe, right inside the core of your mind. They are part of the "coding" of your astral body, and you can influence them easily.

Second, the witch. Most of you are probably comfortable with the idea of witchcraft and magick, which is why I will use this title.
A witch that starts to get experienced in Travel will start exploring. It's what guides tell you, and I won't write what has already been written. You can meet spirits, or even people from other realms, shapeshift, do whatever you damn want.
It is advised to not go too far from your beginning spot, to avoid getting lost, although a lot of witches just use the thread attached to their body to guide them back.
I myself advise to train yourself to go back without its help.This part also include Lucid dreams, and learning to use them to Travel. The sleeping body has less restrains on the mind, making travel easier.
Finally, this is when people start to guide spirits back to their realm, or even their body. It is highly recommended to avoid doing this unless you are very experienced, for obvious reasons.

Finally, the part that interests you. Travelers.
So what changes from the Travel you know and love?
You might have noticed cracks and holes in reality if you spent too much time outside your own body.
Even in it, the world around you might flicker for a few seconds, revealing things that should not be there. Don't pay too much attention to it.
Deja Vu will get more common; it's because you don't remember everything you do up there. You've been here before, or one of you was at least.
You might start hating people that you loved, loving people that you hated. It's normal, you just get used to people changing around you. Some might even feel familiar. Be careful around your family if they feel a little bit too strange.
Travels will make no sense anymore. It's no fun to be there, and you know you won't remember it, but you can't help being there.
Travels will make no sense no more. Things will repeat slightly different, swearing that you just forgot. Your memories can't be trusted. Which one are yours?
Your mind will start to forget it has a body. You will stay longer, become more and more distorted. Becoming like everything in the realm, fluid and changing, not to be trusted.
You might want to get other people to start traveling. After all, no one would spit on a free meal, and you know some that would just be delighted to have something else to hunt than little old you.
You are getting older than your body. You cannot die, so don't fear it.
You will get scars. You will give scars. Choose wisely who to gift.
Although you might have made friends, remember that they are spirits. They can't trust you anymore, now that you know. In return, watch your steps.
The faeries will start becoming more and more threatening. Prepare iron, scatter it around the house. Avoid angering them, they are stronger than you expect.
Finally, if your thread get cut, you can get back. Just run, and be ready to fight for your right of a body. Or go. No one will know anyway.
