Chapter 1: Team 10

Plus a FYI, this story may twist the plot a lot due to my choosing to follow Team 10. I will try to stick to the source material as best as I can, but will take some creative liberties. Please no hate.

(Y/n) pov:

"Hmm...maybe I should have grabbed another rice ball." I muttered to myself, as I walked to the academy. Today was the day that Iruka-sensei will assign teams. To say the least, I was moderately excited. I knew some people at Konoha Academy, but not everyone. If we were to be put on teams, we would have to get along whether we like it or not.

'Welp. Hopefully fate is shining down upon me today.' I silently prayed and arrived at my destination. I watched as other genin poured into the building where I grew up. Most would say they grew up at their home, but it was really here at the academy that I developed my goal. Or at least a yearning for one.

I entered the building and headed to my classroom. That's when all of a sudden, I heard a stampede coming from behind me. I slowly turned around, which ended up being a mistake. Two people were moving at high speeds towards me, and completely clotheslined me. I fell to the ground with a crash and wheezed in pain.

"Well this is great..." I coughed trying to recover from getting the wind knocked out of me. I then saw a hand extended out for me to grab. The owner stood there with a smirk.

"Being lazy is my job." Shikamaru reminded me. I rolled my eyes and accepted his help. He pulled me up to my feet, and I began dusting myself off.

"Well, you didn't get clotheslined this morning, did you?" I retorted. Shikamaru shrugged.

"No. My morning had been mostly quiet, until I saw those two nuts running by." Shikamaru replied. I shook my head.

"You gotta watch who you're calling names. Could bite you in the butt." I warned. Shikamaru shrugged, and we entered the classroom.

"Meh. It's just Ino and Sakura at it again. Probably trying to one-up each other to attract Sasuke." Shikamaru guessed. Knowing those two, it would be a safe assumption.

"Well, considering you could care less about women, you should be fine." I pointed out, as we sat down in the upper corner of the room. I then noticed a commotion towards the front of the classroom. I noticed a group of the female students glaring at Naruto and Sasuke. Sakura and Ino included. However, they were mainly glaring at Naruto.

"Stop glaring at Sasuke!" Ino yelled angrily.

"Yeah, back off you twerp!" Sakura followed. I just sighed tiredly. This was just another one of those antics where Naruto manages to piss everyone off. Low and behold, Naruto and Sasuke suddenly began kissing.

"Why is it always like this in the mornings?" I groaned in annoyance and put my head down. Shikamaru scoffed in amusement.

"You're stealing my attitude, (Y/n). You're supposed to be the positive one." Shikamaru teased. I shrugged and looked up. Now the girls were beating up Naruto.

"Time for "Positive (Y/n)" to diffuse the situation." I stated sarcastically. Shikamaru gestured ahead for me to intervene. I hopped across the desks and landed behind Naruto.

"Let's break it up ladies. I think he's had enough." I began shooing away the angry women.

"Back off (Y/n)! You're always coming to his rescue!" One girl barked.

"Yeah! This time he's done it! Stole Sasuke's first kiss!" Another complained. I waved it off casually.

"Yeah! Yeah! And Sasuke still has his virginity, so you all can look forward to that." I presented the idea. This caused the group of girls to blush red and get all embarrassed. I quickly picked up Naruto. Looks like I was already too late.
