Chapter 8 : our first mission

I woke up, the wind blowing against my cheek. I rubbed my eyes. I could see the sun shining brightly outside, slowly creeping higher up the sky. What time was it?
Shit! My alarm read 8:30. I was so late. I got up from bed, freshened up, tidied my bed, shoved a piece of toast into my mouth, picked up a bottle of water, grabbed my ninja pouch and ran out to meet my team at our meeting spot.
I ate my toast on the way there and drank a bit of water.

I finally made it. Isao Sensei stood there along with Hitoshi and kurai. " You took your sweet time " said Kurai impatiently.
" sorry everyone I over slept, ill try to be more early next time.
"tsk tsk tsk, typical Ochimiyo, " said Hitoshi with a bitter smile.
"Oh well she's here now so let's discuss our mission " said sensei.

"So our mission is to find and retrieve lady shijimi's cat  " said sensei. "oh how exciting I love cats" I replied cheerfuly. " Oh come on How can you enjoy that Ochimiyo that's so boring, I thought ninjas got hard and exciting  missions not odd jobs" added Hitoshi
" well you'll have to deal with it cause a missions a mission no matter what type it is and it's our duty to fulfill our missions "
Said kurai. "kurai is right, missions are assigned to shinobi according to their level and all missions are important so quit complaining and let's begin already" said sensei annoyed
" take these earpieces so we can communicate with each other even if we're long distances apart,  split up and begin searching"
"fine let's do it" said Hitoshi annoyed. We took the ear pieces and began our search. I searched on the north part of town, Hitoshi on the south, kurai at the west and sensei east. I looked for hours, in alleyways, around dumpsters, in shops, in dense forests and the paths but found nothing. "this is company n, the North section is clear, there is no cat anywhere" I said into the ear piece.  " this is company w, all areas in the west section are clear ".  Said kurai. "Company e speaking, all parts of the east section are clear as well".  Damn it, still no sign of that furry feline. But then Hitoshi reported in and said " hey everyone be alert i just saw the cat and he's heading straight for the North section.

My eyes widened. That cats heading straight in my direction. "got it, I'll keep my eyes out " I said. I scanned the area. I spotted it. There it was, a pearly white feline with a bright pink bow around its neck. I lunged forward and tried to grab it. It hissed at me and ran of, I ran after it. " come back here you kawaii feline" I yelled.
It was heading west now. I chased it for a while. " hey company w, the cats heading your way I repeat the cats heading your way" I said into the ear piece. We chased the cat until eventually we had it cornered. One of us was on either side of him. I reached into my pouch and pulled out the cat food I bought from a shop in the section of town I was in just in case. " here kitty, look I have food for you so come here" I cooed. "I rattled the tin of cat food in my hand. It hesitated for a few seconds before slowly approaching me. I opened the tin of food and placed it in front of me. It carefully approached the tin and then began eating happily. I stroked it's soft back and once it had finished eating I lifted it up and carried it.

" finally the missions over" we said together. "let's report back to Lord third now " said sensei. So we went to the hokage's office and returned the cat to its owner.  " oh thank you so much you are truly wonderful " said lady shijimi "my little angel kins I was so worried don't ever run off again you cuddly rascal".
"No wonder it ran off, I would too if I were it" I said
" well done on completing your first mission team 3 " said Lord third smiling. "actually about that, can we have a more challenging mission assigned to us " Hitoshi asked hopefully. "  our mission was so dull, why are we getting odd jobs instead of exciting missions " . " hey Hitoshi stop being so disrespectful, I'm so sorry lord third" said kurai. "yes stop being rude Hitoshi it's not up to you to decide what missions you get" said sensei. "yes behave yourself Hiroshi" I agreed.

" OK listen carefully, missions are assigned to shinobi according to their rank, the ranks are genin, chunin, jonin,  and hokage. The higher the rank you are, the higher the rank of the mission you get. Missions ranks go from the highest being s rank, then a rank, b rank,  c rank and d rank. Your level being genin means you only get c and d rank missions. Everyone Understand " said lord third.  " yes Lord third but it isn't fair, and also if we could so higher rank missions then we could gain more experience and perform better during future missions " Hitoshi said. " Hitoshi you heard what Lord third said so-" "wait, he has a point and also maybe you could learn a valuable lesson from your journey" said Lord third cutting of sensei. " ok I will assign you a slightly more challenging c rank mission, it will be a guarding mission and you will meet your client tomorrow so good luck  " said Lord third. "thank you so much lord third, we will do our best " we said in sync.
"Be prepared your mission begins early tomorrow " said lord third

We left the hokage's office and set of for home. " best of luck every one, tomorrow is the day, we have to give it our all and prove our worth " I said.  " yes good luck everyone, and see you early tomorrow,  sayonara ( goodbye) ".  Said sensei. "sayonara sensei " we all said. We then went on our way home.
