The Match
Chapter 1
My only best friend Eva Reynolds was waiting for me by my locker this morning at school. “Hey Jess did you finish the algebra homework we got yesterday?” Eva asked me while I was opening my locker, “Ha ha, what do you think?” I replied. “Of course you did” said Eva.
“Can I copy?” she asked. “Haha sure” I said as I shut my locker and grabbed my history binder and started to head towards my class.
Eva and I sat in our seats and started to copy the notes on the board. I love my history teacher Mrs.Rodgers she is super cool and doesn’t give us 5 pounds of homework like my other teachers, plus she is fun and doesn't just give us lectures. Just then the schools player Cody walked in, ugh I hated that guy. He had this cheesy smirk that got all the girls fainting with those blue eyes.
“Okay class,” called out Mrs.Rodgers “We will be doing a month long project where you and your partner will do a research project on each other and I will be picking your partners.” The class groaned, I hope I got Eva. Mrs. Rodgers took out a box full of the names of the people in the class and pulled out the first two slips of paper.
“Eva and Jackson you both are partners.” said Mrs. Rodgers. I silently sighed, that meant I couldn’t have Eva as my partner.
”Next we have Jessica and Cody.” I freaked out, I didn’t want Cody as my partner. As she listed off the other people all I could hear was the sound of my heart beating inside my chest,
“Why, why me?!” I whispered in frustration.
“It’s just a project, you don’t have to be so rude about it.” someone I know too well said from behind me. I turned around, and there he was, the arrogant, flirty prick sitting behind me.
“Listen to me you jerk, this is the only time you will talk to me is in this class that's it I don’t want you flirting with me or anything and we better get a good grade on this project.”
“ Someones PMSing” he said
I usually don't sound like that, but for arrogant bastards like Cody, I have too.
As soon as she said that the intercom turned on, and Mrs.Calhoun, our principal started talking.
“Hello students of Northridge High school, the yearbook club has set a school wide fundraiser where students will participate in a matching website where you will go on a blind date with the person you are most compatible with. You will have to pay the admittance fee of 3 dollars, have a nice day” and the intercom crackled off. Eva ran up to me and said, “ Hey! We should totally do this, now we won’t total single losers.” It was no use saying no, Eva was very good at dragging me into things.
Later that day at lunch Eva grabbed me by the arm and took me to the library where the matching test took place. “3 dollars please.” said a girl who I didn’t know the name of. We had to use our student ID for our identity to be a secret .”Okay, question 1: What do you look for in a relationship?” I read quietly, I choose trust.
25 questions later I was done and the person I was matched with wanted to go on a blind date this friday at the Cheesecake Factory. I already like this guy, he had a damn good taste of food, I could tell you that. “I’m totally doing your hair and makeup for this.” said Eva. “Who else would do it?“ I said laughing, “I have no friends other than you!” I sighed, I couldn’t wait to meet this mystery guy.
