Finding Something True Tom Hiddleston x Reader

morning pt1

~the next morning~

You got up in the morning and showered. You got dressed and went downstairs to fix yourself some breakfast. Tom, on the other hand, was still sound asleep by the time you had showered and dressed. He slept soundly on the couch, his soft snores were so soft you could barely hear them.  You put some music, specifically some 50s music you had always listened to with your grandparents and danced as you made yourself some pancakes and coffee. You had to get your energy up for a boring day at work, you worked at a large law firm as an assistant so basically you delivered coffee for everyone and picked up calls without getting any recognition. As you finished up making your pancakes, Tom was awoken by the smell. He stood up and walked over to the kitchen 

"Hello, good morning y/n," he said, his voice raspy. You jumped a little startled causing you to turn around and throw a wooden spoon you had beside you.
"Who the hell?-" You surprisingly aimed well and hit him on the forehead since he failed to dodge it.
"Ow," Tom said touching his forehead.
"Oh my god, Tom! I am so sorry!" You said once you had realized it was him.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't realize it was you!" You apologized and ran to him
"It's okay, I didn't mean to scare you" he chuckled "good aim though," he said
"Thank you, I learned from my mother" you laughed making him laugh as well  
"Still I'm very sorry, that's going to leave a mark." You frowned a little
"Its totally fine y/n, don't worry" he replied softly    
"No Tom, come here let me put some ice on it" you said while walking to the fridge and grabbing some ice before putting it into a small baggie.

Tom sighed and walked over "I said it was fine" he chuckled
"Oh hush" you said placing the little baggie on his forehead

"I'm sorry for yesterday, having to go back to see your ex just to save your date must've been hard" he said as he looked at you
"Oh no, it totally fine. You don't have to worry about it. Jake and I are a thing of the past so why dwell on it" you replied with a smile.
"And about that comment you said.. about it still being easy to find jobs even after being in jail. I dont think its-" he got cut off by you
"Tom.. I know. But they were there for a year, a few others i know were there for longer and they found the perfect jobs because they actually looked for them. They simply went back to their old habits." You sighed

He looked at you "if I may ask, how did you end up with Jake?" He asked
You looked at him and looked down "well Jake and I used to go to school together. We've known each other since our early teens and we didnt start going out until high school. He was a friend in middle school but we weren't very close, He was really protective of me though," you chuckled lightly "he was a good kid and when we started getting close we decided to go out. I thought we would end up getting married even if he went the way he did our Junior year of high school. He changed a lot but he was still very sweet to me. He had a soft side which was alway very amusing to see. Then one day I came home from the library...." you trailed off.  "sorry I didnt mean to go off like that" You looked up and gave Tom a soft smile.

Tom looked at you with a soft yet concerned expression on his face "it's okay y/n you can vent to me if you need to" he smiled softly as he gently placed his hand on your cheek. You looked at him and smiled back  "thank you Tom" you whispered softly. He nodded and looked at you then at your lips. He slowly leaned in but you panicked and moved away "Woah the pancakes are getting cold" you said loudly with a nervous chuckle as you turned around to grab the plate.

He sighed and cleared his throat "wouldnt want those you get too cold" he said with a small laugh, clearly sad that he didnt kiss you. "Yeah, have a seat and I'll finish everything up here" you said as you carried the plate to the table. He nodded and sat down patiently waiting for you.

HOWDY GUYS!! IM SO SORRY THIS IS SHORT, IT TOOK ME FOREVER CUZ I LITERALLY HAVE LOST MY ABILITY TO WRITE. I hope yall enjoyed it, I know I promised to have it uploaded by mid January but ya know shit happens. I'll try to upload the second part as soon as possible so please be watching out for that!
