Rain splattered on the glass, as I lay in my bed. A steady beat of water on the pane could be heard clearly as I tossed and turned in turmoil. Thoughts and emotions stormed inside my mind, running rampant. Although, one of these emotions overshadowed the rest, fear.

Trying to calm my mind, I continuously reassured myself that no one was in my house and no one ever would be. Just as I had begun to calm down, a creak echoed from within the empty house.

My head snapped towards the door, as the silence burned inside my ears. I strained my hearing so long in the stifling darkness, a ringing began to sound in my ears. After minutes of staying in the same position, I began to relax. Trying desperately to remind myself I was safe, I started to soothe my tensed muscles and lay down on my bed once again.

Suddenly, another creak sounded from inside the house, this time reverberating from outside my closed door. My door creaked open slowly as if taunting me. Shadows danced across my room, twisted being come to mock my terror.

I couldn't handle what was happening. I gripped my bed sheets in fear as I focused on trying to dull the cacophony. Suddenly, I was thrown out of my bed and into the floor, as mangled hands clawed at me and fiery red eyes burned marks onto my very soul. The room shook as if rattled by a greater force.

Just as the being began closing in on me I jerked awake. Drenched in sweat, I found to my relief that it had only been a nightmare.

Glancing at the clock, glowing letters flashed 2:30 a.m. I decided I would go to the bathroom and then go back to sleep. Extinguishing any remaining trace of fear from my ghoulish nightmare, I placed my feet on the floor.

A force latched onto my ankles suddenly, as jagged nails dug into my exposed flesh. Warily I looked to my feet only to find a horrifying sight. Thousands of blazing eyes stared back at me menacingly as grotesque monsters drug me into the unfathomable darkness.
