Home is not always better

Chapter 5

At home

Around this time a day is my mother out with some of her friends and my father is probably at some club. They will be home late so I don’t have to worry about any kind of punishment awaiting me. I make my homework and get some food too ‘cause I really need to eat something. after that i got into my bed hoping that that way my fever will be gone tomorrow. 

  

1 AM

I’m awoken by the sound of the front door being slammed shut. Not much later I hear someone stomping up the stairs. Then the door of my room is slammed open and I see my father standing there. It doesn’t take me long to know what’s going on. He’s drunk “N-norihito you have been disobeying again weren’t you?” he mumbles drunkenly “Then you must be punished again”. No the punishments he comes up with when he isn’t drunk are already cruel, who knows what he will come up with now. He walks closer to me leaving the doorway open. I can’t let him beat me again, my body won’t be able to take that. That’s when I made a run for it, i ran in to the bathroom and locked it. I slid down against the door and heard my fathers angry screams followed by somethings crashing down. My breathing schokes and tears start to run down my cheeks in fear. I am still wearing my normal clothes so that means I have my phone with me. I remember Minamisawa’s words from this morning, I need to call him.

I dial his number and put my phone next to my ear. While the phone is ringing, I try to calm my breathing but with my fathers footsteps coming closer it’s becoming hard to do. Please Minamisawa pick up I need you. “Kurama what’s going on? Why do you call this late” “Minamisawa, p-please you need to get me out of here” I whisper while crying “What happened?” “My father he’s drunk! Please come I’m scared” I cry “Kurama, how do you expect me to do something alone?”. There’s another crashing sound “Tell the guys, I don’t care just please get me out of here” “I’ll be there soon, just hold on okay?” “Y-yeah” I answer shakely and hang up. All I can do now is wait for them to come and help me.

Pov Shindou

I get woken up by my phone that started to ring. I look at the dialer, Minamisawa why does he call in the middle of the night? I pick up “Minamisawa, do you know what hour it is?” “Yeah sorry for waking you up, but listen carefully Shindou. Kurama is in danger, we need to help him, but we can’t do it alone. I need you to contact the guys and tell them to come to my house. Can you do that?” “W-what? What’s wrong with Kurama?” “Shindou I know you want to know that, but I don’t have time to explain it right now. Just do as I ask okay, I’ll tell you when everyone is here” “Yes, see you over a few minutes then”. When he hangs up I start calling everyone, they all agree in helping Kurama. Then I get drest and sneak out of my house.

At Minamisawa’s house

“So now that everyone is here, let me explain what’s wrong with Kurama” Minamisawa starts.  “Yeah you better tell us, Shindou was being so vague on the phone” Kurumada spats back “Okay everyone listen closely I’m not telling it twice. Kurama’s parents abuse him, but that’s not why your all here. Right now as we speak he’s hiding from his angry drunken dad, he’s scared to death of him. We need to go and help him now” he finishes. “Kurama-senpai is being abused by his parents” Tenma repeats shocked, we all need a few second to let that information sink in. “We can’t go there and just burst into his house, we need a plan” Sangoku says after some seconds have passed “What kind of plan are you thinking about?” I ask “We need to go to his house, but what do we do when we’re there” he thinks out loud “We need to know in which room he is and we need to keep contact with him” I think with him “But the person who keeps contact with him has to be calm and stay calm” Sangoku fills in. “What if he’s on the second floor?” Kariya asks “Than I’ll catch him” Minamisawa jumps in “That’s fine by me, but now we need to find someone who can stay calm during the situation” I answer him “Hmmmm, let me think of someone” Sangoku mumbles and looks around the room. “I know, Ichino can do that” Sangoku says eventually, we all look at him “Of course he is capable of staying calm right now he is already doing a good job at that” I reply “Can you do that Ichino?” I ask “Sure” he is his reply. “Good, call Kurama now and tell him we're on our way” Sangoku tells him, he nods and picks up his phone.
