Caste

So I found that it's not a much difference between us Australian and Indonesian couples' thing. But there's one thing that strictly can't be abandoned, no intimate skin ship like, kiss in the lips and 'S' thing. They aim for marriage for that so, I can't just kiss and 'F' her if we're dating.

I decided to text her again.

"Hi, Sweet Tree. "

"Hi, Massie"

"What's that lol"

"Massie sounds more friendly. Mason sounds like I'm calling my kid's friend in his/her primary school. No offense but lol"

"Hahaha, you have a kid?"

"Kids. Yeah"

I'm surprised.

"3 doggies and 2 hammies. They're soo cute and brutal lol"

"Soo, what's up?"

"Nothing special except staring at my screen here, replying on a cute foreigner's text"

She's not replying.

Am I being too offensive? Too rude?

Is this thing inappropriate in Indonesia?!

"I'd like to, but it charges a lot. Do you have a WhatsApp?"

Oh, she's being tolerable. What a cutie.

"I don't use WhatsApp."

"Line? Kakao?"

"How about Snapchat? We can send pictures to each other too"

"I don't think soo..."

"It's okay I'm not sexist or pervert or pedophile. I'm just a regular Australian guy who wants to get along with foreigner of a country that I probably visit"

Since we joined Snapchat together, we're getting closer and closer. She sometimes sent her pictures with filters that make her face doesn't expose that much in term of keeping her own safety and I sent a picture of my back and silhouette except my front and head above. She would recognize me!

3 weeks past and now we're getting even closer.

I always text her every morning. noon and night before sleep. We share our daily stories a lot, she captured some of it, including introducing her 'kids' to me and we have a good time together.

Not to mention she also very tolerable and very responding on my jokes and stuff. I feel like we're meant to each other.

"Massie. I know that I should have asked this earlier but, what's your religion?"

"I'm ... not sure"

"Oh okay, that's fine."

"I'm Hindu by the way"

"Can you explain that to me?"

"Hindu is the oldest religion exist in this universe (based on what I learned and believed). The first religion of humankind and the most mother-earth-friendly religion also the majority of Bali's citizen"

"Oh Bali thing? I know that! That's suuper cool!"

"And you know what? There's this Kasta or Caste system in Bali's Hindu that makes the boundaries of some Hindus in having love and marriage"

"Catur Kasta and Varna:The system which divides Hindus into rigid hierarchical groups based on their karma (work) and Dharma (the Hindi word for religion, but here also means duty) are generally accepted to be more than 3,000 years old. Nusantara's (Indonesian) Hindu belief Kasta or Caste are based on lineage. Which mean karma and Dharma are not seen as a status in their profession but the lineage of the family. Furthermore, there are 4 Kasta, Brahma Kasta are those who struggle in religious fields or might as know as the highest Kasta, Ksatrya's the royal blood and warrior or any statehood fields, Waisya's the merchant or any economy business, and Sudra's mostly labors or servants that helps the 3 Kasta above them."

"And what yours?"

"Ksatrya"

"Dammmnnn!"

"It's kinda cool from the outside but in the inside ... people with the higher Kasta cannot have a love relationship or marriage with the Kasta under them."

"What if you did?"

"My family will throw me away. I can't call my parents my parents, my siblings, my siblings. Just ... stranger. The worst parts it, when my parents-- I no longer can...-"

"Okay I understand.You dont have to say it. Its finr. But, just dating though ... what's the deal?"

"That's the deal. It's just ... me who decided to not dating someone outside my range"

"What if someone insists?"

"What do you mean?"

"What if someone insists on you? Someone you love who's out of those ranges?"

"If I'm truly in love with him at that moment, maybe I'll still date him. But the fact of cannot marry him or spent my entire life with him just broke my heart and stopped me from doing it or even the thought to start it. I just feel like, I don't want to waste such thing, don't want to waste him. So, if I know that the relationship can't go forever why bother to date in the first place? "

God ... what do I have to do now...

My fingers are numb, I'm too hesitate to reply or type everything that goes in my mind. But instead, my fingers started to type some words that was actually blown me after it goes sent.
