Jax slowly pulled his bike to a complete stop in the driveway of Tara's home.  He sat idle, with the engine running, and waited patiently while his ex-girlfriend hopped off the back.

"Thanks for the lift."  Tara gave him a small, shy smile, removing the helmet she borrowed and handing it back.  "I really appreciate it."

Jax returned the smile, taking his helmet from her hands.  "It's no problem."  He was at the hospital this morning just checking in on Abel when Tara came to him, practically begging for a ride home.  He knew it had bad idea written all over it, but for some reason he couldn't bring himself to tell her no

Tara Knowles was the former love of Jax's life.  They were sixteen, young, and dumb.  Tara was the girl that Jax almost left everything for.  If he hadn't been so devoted to his family and the club, he could have given it all up.  But he didn't, and when he begged her to stay, she still left.

Jax would never forget the day he found out that she had packed her things and left without a word.  He was left in total devastation and heartbroken.  Now, 10 years later, here she was, and it had him questioning everything.

When Jax first found out that Tara was back, he ran through so many scenarios in his head of what exactly would happen when they would see each other for the first time.  Most of them had to do with him being angry and lashing out at her for leaving.  But none of which, according to how he pictured it, actually happened.  He barely had time to have any type of reaction since he found out that she was assisting with his son's surgery.  When he first saw her, though, a rush of feelings hit him like a freight train, and it was leaving him confused.

Jax also knew that he wasn't the only one affected by Tara's sudden reappearance.  He knew her return was weighing heavy on Lena too.

Lena was there when Jax needed someone the most.  She was the one who put his broken pieces back together, and she loved him despite all of his flaws.  She accepted that the club was a part of his life and never tried to change it or him.  Lena was perfect in every sense.  Perfect for the club.  Perfect for his family.  Perfect for him.  He couldn't have been more elated when she told him she was having his baby, and if she ever left, he wasn't so sure that he'd be able to handle that.

Even so, Jax hated to admit that with Tara back in town and in his life, again, it was getting harder for him to ignore the pull that his former love had over him.

"Where's the Cutlass?"  Jax questioned Tara, looking around the driveway for her father's old car that she had been driving since coming back.

"Oh, it's, uh, at the hospital."  Tara sputtered, looking down at her feet uncomfortably.

"Still not running right?"  Jax knew that Tara brought the car into Teller-Morrow a week ago to get it fixed.

Tara shook her head, her attention now taken to her surroundings.  She had an eerie feeling creepy up her spine, knowing that he was around.  She could feel it in her bones.  "It's running okay."
