"Cob, What happened? You're like, dead!" Juyeon asked, the other three looking at him suddenly.
"My dad doesn't think I'm gay because I've never dated anyone. He says it's a 'you live, you learn' thing and I shouldn't 'jump to conclusions' that are probably not true." Jacob explained, the others nodding along with him. Juyeon wrapped an arm around his shoulder, prompting him to lift his head off the table.
"Fake date someone. I'm sure you can ask one of the others. If worse comes to worse, I'll do it." The '98 liner joked, Sangyeon chuckling. Juyeon glared at him and Jacob thought about it for a moment.
He could fake date someone and use that to prove he is gay, or he could suffer in silence until he gets an actual partner.
"That's not a bad idea. I'll pass on asking you though. My dad knows about you and Eric from the many times all of us have hung out." Juyeon nodded, removing his arm from around the elder's shoulder and went back to eating.
Soon enough, the rest of their group joined them, Kevin sitting on Jacob's free side. Juyeon smirked, scooting over a little to allow the two Canadians more room.
"Why don't you ask Kevin!" Jaehyun announced, Jacob kicking him in the leg lightly and forgetting that the other had even heard their conversation.
"Ask me what?" Kevin turned his attention to his best friend. Jacob, on the other hand, was burning red and had his head in his hands.
"We'll talk later." Jacob replied quietly. Kevin nodded, and everyone started talking about the crappy school lunch, classes and different YouTubers.
Later in the day, all 12 boys were hanging out in the outside seating area, talking and being excited for the weekend. Kevin used this time to move Jacob and himself to the side, giving him a questioning look before deciding to finally confront the other about the earlier time.
"It's later and my curiosity is killing me. What was Jaehyun talking about?" The younger of the two asked, his voice void of any teasing.
"Well, my dad does't believe I'm gay-which I know you know- but Juyeon said I should have one of you guys pretend to be my boyfriend to prove to my dad that I am, in fact, gay." Jacob explained all in one breath. Kevin nodded, taking a moment to process what was told to him.
"So, Jaehyun wanted you to ask me?" Jacob nodded. "Okay, well were you going to ask me?" Kevin asked, his teasing tone of voice finally becoming apparent. Jacob pouted slightly.
"I guess, probably." It was Kevin's chance to nod, and Jacob saw the small smirk on his face.
"Well than ask me." He stood, waiting for the question. Jacob sighed.
"No, I'll just ask someone else in the group. I'm sure someone will help me instead of you, the person I thought was my best friend." Jacob dramatically turned around, walking towards the rest of the group. Kevin smirked, shrugging and following him. He sat down and watched Jacob confront the group of boys.
"Will one of you help me prove to my dad that I'm fat by being my pretend boyfriend?" He asked/announced to them.
"But, How is it proving anything if it is fake?" Chanhee asked, Jacob looking at him.
"Okay, someone other than Chanhee. And Juyeon or Eric 'cause my dad knows about them." He explained, Chanhee slapping his hands down on his thighs.
"I give up y'all." He exclaimed. Sunwoo shrugged.
"I'll do it." He said, causing both Kevin and Jacob to turn their heads. Jacob whipped his neck around so hard he almost got wipe lash.
"You will?" He asked.
"What now?" Haknyeon said, crossing his arms.
"What, I'm just helping him. Plus, what's his dad gonna do? Make me kiss him in front of him- that's just unorthodox and completely wrong." Sunwoo explained. Jacob nodded, a bright smile on his face.
"Thank you so much, Woo!" He said. "Can you come over this weekend and we can sort it all out?" Jacob asked hopeful. Haknyeon smiled and just allowed this to happen.
"Yeah, I'm free as far as I know." Jacob nodded, accepting his answer. The two decided to make plans to actually decide what was going to happen later, as it was only Thursday.
——
'What do you mean your parents took you out of the country?" Jacob asked, keeping his tone down.
"I'm really sorry. They surprised me at the last moment this morning, and I didn't have a say in it. I'm really sorry, Cob." Sunwoo explained, Jacob sighing.
"It's okay. I wi just ask Kevin I guess." He exclaimed.
"Well, good luck. It's probably best though, he was giving me death looks all day." Sunwoo said, Jacob humming on confusion.
"Why would be be giving you death glares?" Sunwoo semi-screamed.
"Oh, I don't know. I have to go, and again I'm sorry. Love you!" Sunwoo said, Jacob smiling a little at the young.
"Love you too, Woo!" They hung up and Jacob changed into a different t-shirt and jeans before heading out and messaging Kevin on the way to the younger's house.
He made it to the front door and knocked on it. Kevin answered it and smiled softly at the older.
"Will you please be my fake boyfriend so I can prove to my dad that I am gay?" Jacob spat out. Kevin shrugged, deciding to tease the other again.
"I don't know. Now that I was rudely rejected for Sunwoo, I don't think I feel comfortable enough to do this task." He spoke, mocking a 'proper tone'. Jacob grunted, grabbing onto Kevin's arm.
"Please, I will give you partial custody of my dog." Jacob pleased. Kevin immediately nodded.
"Okay, i'lll do it. Let me change and we can go." Jacob nodded, thanking the younger profusely and stepping completely into the house. He waited by the door for Kevin, and ignored the fact that Kevin liked his dog more than him.
When the younger came back into view, Jacob thanked him again, a string of 'don't worry about it's' came out of Kevin's mouth, and the two headed out to Jacob's house.
On the way. Jacob started explaining really fast and nervous about what he should do.
"Jacob, calm down. I've met your dad before. If anything, he will approve of me- okay?" Kevin asked, calming Jacob's 80 thousand mile an hour thoughts back down.
"Thank you." Jacob said, a soft smile placing itself upon his lips.
"And stop saying thank you. I'm always glad to help." The rest of the way was fast, including Kevin 'meeting' Jacob's dad. Jacob was embarrassed as Kevin was surprisingly good with these kinds of things.
After they three of them had lunch, Jacob's dad got a call from his work saying he should come in and help with something. He said goodbye to the two boys, albeit very slowly, and made his way upstairs to change and come back down to go.
After a while, the two remaining boys were sitting outside, talking and looking at the sky. There were bathing in the warm autumn sun and enjoying the soft breeze and pick up of falling leaves.
"Thank you for helping me today." Jacob said, reading his head on Kevin's shoulder. The younger smiled, resting his head on Jacob's.
"No problem, cause really it was no problem."
The both of them ended up enjoying the rest of the day together.
