Chapter 39: Deal ?

***ELLE'S POV***

"Lee... wake up" i shook her gently."

"Elle ?" She yawned. "What the hell are you doing here this late ?" She sat up in bed.

"I'll explain later." I cut on the lamp. "I need you to get up and pack a bag of clothes."

"Pack for what ?"

"We're going on a trip. Now hurry up and get out of bed."

"A trip at four o'clock in the morning ?" She looked at me sideways. "Why couldn't this wait until later ?"

"Because we're leaving now." I said, standing up. I looked in her closet and pulled out a large louis vitton suitcase. "Here." I sat it on the bed. "Only pack your essentials."

"Elle, can you please tell me what's going on ?" She got out of bed. "Where the hell are we going at this time of night ?" She put her hands on her hips.

"LeLe, i need you to listen to me carefully" i said in a serious tone. "It's not safe for you here right now. I don't have time to explain, i just need for you to trust me. Now, hurry up and get packed and meet me at the car. Remember to only pack essentials. Everything else can be replaced later." With that, i left the room and allowed her to pack in peace. I sat on the couch in the dark as i waited for her to finish. I felt bad for doing this to her but it had to be done. I just hoped that everything went according to plan after this.

"I'm ready." Lee said, rolling the suitcase into the living room. Her hair was still wrapped from earlier and she was now wearing a pair of black joggers and a hoodie. She was alert but i could tell she was exhausted.

"Are you sure you have everything you need ? " I was only asking because i knew there was a chance she wouldn't get to come back

"I'm sure." She said quietly, nodding her head.

"Alright. Let's go then." I grabbed her suitcase and rolled it out to the Range Rover where my mom and Aj were waiting inside. I put the suitcase in trunk with the others and then i got in the car. I looked back and saw Aj was sound asleep in his car seat. Good. I thought. That would make this easier for me.

I pulled up at the airport and parked the car in the empty lot. A few feet ahead was a private jet waiting on the runway.

"Wake up." I said loud enough for everyone to hear. Slowyly, my mom and LeLe lifted their heads and sat up in their seats. "Come on." I said, unbuckling my seat belt.

"Elle." Carlos said in his thick accent. He smiled at me happily, taking in my appearance.  I looked the same as i did four years ago more or less but it was obvious i had undergone a change.

"Tio !" i grinned as he enveloped me into a hug. "It's nice to see you."

"Thank you so much for this, tio." I said graciously.  He was doing me a big favor.

"Ah, it's no problem" he waved nonchalantly. "Now, introduce me to your family." He nodded at the three who were standing behind me awkwardly.

"Everyone, this Carlos. Carlos, this is my mother, Ella" i pointed to her. "My sister in law Le'adrian, and the sleeping boy she's cradling in her arms is my son Aj."

"A son ?" He gasped. "I remember when Kaio used to carry you around like that on his back." He said jokingly.

"Mommy" Aj looked around confused.

"I'm right here" i said, taking him out of Lee's arms.

"Where are we ?" He was so confused.  He's never been anywhere that wasn't in driving distance.

"You're going on a trip."

"On the plane ?" He pointed to it.

"Yep. Come on, let's get you on board."

Carlos' men came and got our luggage and escorted us on the plane.

"Why aren't you sitting ?" LeLe asked. Here it comes. I thought. The moment i've been dreading. "You aren't coming with us." She said, figuring it out.

"You're not coming ?" Aj said in a small voice.

"No, i can't come with you baby." I shook my head trying to hold my tears in. I couldn't cry now. I had to show my son thay everything was going to be okay. "Aj, i need you to be a big boy while i'm away.  You have to listen to your Nona and your auntie and do everything they say. I don't want to get any phone calls about you misbehaving." I stooped down so that we were eye to eye. "Can you do that ?" He nodded his head yes.

"Good. I love you, don't ever forget that."

"I love you too mommy."

"We'll be together again soon." I gave him a long hug and kissed him goodbye before i turned my attention to Le'adrian.

"Take care of him for me. And mama too. Don't worry about anything, everything you need will be provided for you when you get there."

"What are you doing, Elle ?" She sighed.

"I have something important i have to do. I just need you to trust that i know what i'm doing. If i'm going to do this, i can't be worried about you three. I need you to promise me you'll call everyday and make sure they're good." I nodded to Aj and my mom sitting next to each other.

"I trust you, Elle. I promise i'll take care of him."

"Thank you." I hugged her.

"It's nothing. We're family now."

"Mama, i love you. Make sure you take your medicine everyday." I hugged her.

"Love you too, and i said i will." She got annoyed everytime i mentioned medicine. "Don't be gone too long, baby." She grabbed my hand.

"I promise i'll be there as soon as i can." I kissed her on the forehead.

"I love you guys." I blew them a kiss. "Call me as soon as you land." I took one last look at them before exiting the plane. I felt like as soon as i stepped off board, my heart left my chest. I felt hollow.

"I can't tell you how much your help means to me, Carlos" i hugged him. We were standing outside the plane. The pilot was waiting for him to board so they could take off.

"You know i'd do anything for Kaio's blood. His family will always be my family.  Although i am happy to help you, you must know that every favor comes with a price mija."

"A price ?" I swallowed. "What do you need from me ?"

"Just recently, my Miami distributor got himself into an altercation and now i have twenty thousand kilos of coke that needs to be moved."

"I'm retired." I shook my head.

"Not anymore, sweetheart.It's a lot under such short notice, i know. But, if you want my help, this is the price you must pay. Sell the weight he bought from me and delivere the cash the next time we meet. In return, i'll help you with your 'situation' and you'll get thirty percent."

The more he talked, the more his accent flared. I was starting to feel sick.

"Do we have a deal ?" He held his hand out.

"Yeah." I sighed. I didn't want to do this but i had no other choice. "Deal." And we shook on it.

"Good girl." He smiled. "Here." He handed me a brand new iphone. "This is the phone i'll use to contact you. Use it for business purposes only. I'll call you further instructions tomorrow.

"Take care of my family, Carlos."

"You, have my word." He waved his hand and a few of his men came forward carrying five black suitases. They put the suitcases in my trunk and then they boarded they plane. "I'll see you soon mija, i'll be in touch." He hugged me one last time before boarding the plane with the others.

I sat in my car and watched as the plane rolled down the runway before it finally began to lift off the ground. I stayed there watching until the plan had completely disappeared into the sky. It was official. Everyone i loved was gone. I was on my own for this. I wasn't worried though. I was ready for whatever.
