Chapter 11: Birthday Boy

***ELLE'S POV***

"Ayyyyjayyyy ! Happy birthday baby" i kissed him all over his face.

"stoooop i'm sleepy" he whined

"Come onnnn" i shook him. "Wake up"

"No" he whined, burrying his head under the covers.

"Fine" i sighed. "I guess i'll just take your present back to the store then"

"Nooooo" He jumped out of bed and climbed into my arms. "I'm up ! I'm up !"

"That's what i thought" i smirked. "You hungry ?"

"Mmhmm" he nodded.

"Good thing i made breakfast. C'mon, let's go eat"

I picked him up and carried him to the kitchen. I put him in his high chair and sat his plate down in front of them. I made all his favorites: waffles, cheese eggs, bacon, and cut up strawberries.

"What do you wanna do today ?" i asked, sipping my orange juice.

"Ummmm" he put his finger on his chin. "I wanna go see daddy"

"Well hurry up and eat so we can get ready"

"Okay." he shoved the rest of his food in his mouth and chewed it really fast. "Done" he said, swallowing the last of his food.

I picked him up and carried him to his room. I sat him down on the bed and started looking for outfits. I took out his tan colored plaid shirt and his white shorts and laid them down on the bed.

We went in the bathroom and we brushed our teeth then i put his clothes on. After he was dressed, i took him downstairs and turned on the tv for him so he wouldn't get in trouble.

I didn't feel like getting all dressed up so i put on some acid washed drawstring shorts and a white crop top with my red and black retro's. I flat ironed my hair bone straight and put on a little eyeliner and mascara then i put on some clear lip gloss. I added some silver hoop earings and my red huf bucket hat then i was ready to go.

I cut off the tv and grabbed some snacks for Aj to eat in the car. I made sure the house was locked up and then we got on the road.

An hour later we pulled up to the little shack on the beach. We took off our shoes, then I grabbed his hand and led him down the sandy path leading into the forest. When we reached the angel, i sat down in front of Adonis's plaque and pulled Aj into my lap.

I hated cemetaries so i had Adonis' casket moved next to his mother's shrine. I had a plaque customized with pictures of us built inside of it placed at the head of his grave.

"What was my daddy like ?" Aj look up at me.

"Well, he was kind and very generous. He was always looking out for others, especially your crazy uncle" i laughed. "He was smart. There wasn't a problem he couldn't fix. He was funny, he always kept a smile on my face, even when i was mad at him. He was the best man i had ever known."

"Do you miss daddy ?"

"Everyday" a tear fell from my eye and i quickly wiped it away. I didn't like crying in front of my son. I wanted him to know i was strong.

"Dont cry mommy" he wiped my tears away and kissed me on the cheek. "Daddy will always be here" he put his hand on my heart.

"When did you become so wise ?" i smiled.

"Nona says it's because i was born an old man"

"She's right" i laughed.

We sat there for a few more minutes until we finally got up and left. We got back in the car and i headed to my mom's house. We were having a small get together and i had to be there early to help set up.
