I woke up with the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear, I felt a small body on me and looking down I see my sister looking at me,

"Happy birthday Ayo"she says,  with a big smile on her face and I feel my heart warm up

"Oh thank you sis I love you soooo much"

"Love you too sis" she says happily.

"Now go get dressed so that you can eat some cake for  breakfast"

"Ohhh cake yay" I laugh at her cuteness and get ready for the day.

............................

After having my bath I pick out the new gown I bought for the occasion. It was brown knee length form gown, with white stripes buttons all the way down the side, and a slit at the bottom. I put on my makeup, and wear my new high top converse, and take my brown bag before going down to the kitchen.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs I hear my mom and my cousin shout

"Happy birthday Ayoka, we love you "

"Thanks, love you too " I say while hugging them.
Behind them I see yus with cake all over her face. She looked like a chipmunk with her face stuffed with cake, and I laugh while she  gives me a sheepish look.

After eating breakfast we all left the house to go see my family. I was so excited to see my grandma case she mostly raised me with my mum so I'm really close to her.

"Getting there, there's something we must tell you, grandma and I. ok?" My mom says while looking at Hafiz nervously, that made me feel suspicious about what was going to happen.

"O...k... is everything alright? " I ask

"Yeah we just need to tell you something important" she had a really serious expression on her face

"Ok ma no problem"

Getting to the house I see grandma come out of the house and Yusrah and I run to her to give her a hug

"Grandma!!!!" We say

"My babies how are you bawo ni school" comming to America she didn't know that much of English but she learnt a bit and now can have discussion but still likes speaking Yoruba

"Omo mi, ku ojo obi " she says while hugging me.

"Thanks grand ma " I say lovingly.

"Now come in lets eat I cooked all day yesterday for this so you better eat" she says with her nigerian accent on full blow.

.............................

After eating my mum calls me to my grandma's room

"Sit down cause its gonna be a long talk " she says,

"There is a prophecy..."grand ma starts as I sit

" That is attached to the girls of our family that says,

Skipping  six generations a great power is reborn in the first kin,

Betrothed to the king she shall a beauty unknown to man ,

Revealed on her 16th birthday he shall come to seek her on that date,

But beware for that power I fear can cause chaos everrywhere.

The last woman of our family to have this power was my mothers grand mother..."

"Meaning..."my mother continues,

"That you are the next to have it for you are the first child of the sixth generation. "

"Mum I don't get what you're trying to say" I say nervously

"The king is comming for you tonight after your powers show"
I'm lost. I cant believe they waited for today to tell me this I can't just leave with a man I don't know without telling my friends why I left or leave my family without wanting to.

"What? No mum I can't leave like that, I don't even know this guy, why should I leave with him?"

"Because its your destiny. You have to do this for your own good, because he is your protectant only he can teach you the ways of your power, cause its dangerous when uncontrolled, it attracts unwanted attention that can bring grave danger to you"

"But why now why didnt you tell me earlier " I say heart broken,

"I didn't want you think about that, I wanted you to enjoy your childhood " my mum days with tears in her eyes

"I don't want to do this but I don't have a choice. Do I?" I say sadly.
