A Twist In Fate... (Wolfblood 1)

Note to self: Brace yourself for a bipolar Wolfblood.

(A/N: That's version 3 of the title. It's taken me 2 days to decide on that alone.)

My idea of an assembly was not watching Kay dance. However, it appears that Mr Jeffries and the rest of the teachers disagreed with me.

I slumped back in my seat while Maddy wriggled in her seat and Rhydian kept looking from her to Kay and back again with a worried expression his face. I started getting worried too and looked at Maddy with concern.

"Maddy?" I asked while tapping her shoulder since I was behind but she didn't respond.

"Maddy?" Rhydian asked and she made a motion to sort of push him off even though he wasn't holding her.

"Are you OK, Mads?" I asked and received no response again.

She continued staring intently at Kay and honestly, it was freaking me out a bit. She got up and went onto the stage.

"What is she doing?" Tom asked and Rhydian shrugged. Tom looked to me for an answer.

"How am I meant to know? I don't even want to be here!" I replied.

Maddy started dancing on the stage. And I mean, proper dancing. Like, dancing-for-some-competition dancing.

"Maddy can't dance..." Shannon said and I stared at the girl on the stage.

"Apparently, she's been holding out on us!" I said while I looked at Maddy confused.

Maddy threw in a few more moves and the entire hall started chanting 'Mad-dy! Mad-dy! Mad-dy!'.

Unless you were us four who were trying to figure out who the person on the stage was and what they'd done with Maddy. Long story short: We didn't figure it out.

I looked at Maddy and I saw, just for a few seconds, her eyes go yellow. I looked at her in horror. She hid her face and finished her little solo while Kay looked at her. Rhydian looked back at the three of us and I shrugged at him.

We all walked out of the hall and I could hear Mr Jeffries lecturing Maddy.

"You almost lost it out there." Rhydian said once Mr Jeffries had gone.

"I had it under control." Maddy said and I rolled my eye.

"Yeah, right. After your first transformation, it's crazy. You can wolf-out in a second." I said, trying to help and she looked at me.

"You need to lighten up. No-one noticed!" She said and walked off.

The four of us - Shannon, Tom, Rhydian and I - were taking care of our own individual in food tech while Maddy was getting something. The 'K's walked up to her and I frowned.

"What's wrong with you?" Tom asked and I gestured towards Maddy. He looked over while the others did the same.

"I'm worried about her. They aren't exactly the nicest people." I said as Maddy walked off. We all stayed silent as she joined us and went back to doing whatever we were doing. The 'K's walked past, gossipping, before Maddy broke the silence.

"OK, that was weird. I was just invited to Kay's party!" Maddy said and Rhydian shrugged.

"I was invited last week." He said and Shannon frowned.

"They didn't invite me!" She muttered and Tom stared at her.

"Don't cry Shannon, I wasn't invited either." He said and I clicked my fingers to get their attention.

"The difference is that Rhydian is considered popular and they've clearly had a crush on him for ages. Maddy's been invited because her dance routine makes her popular for a while but, trust me, it'll blow over." I said and they all seemed to agree with me.
