Chapter III

     "Clear your mind, find your inner peace..." The yoga instructor drones on, boring Kailynn near to death.  Why had she decided to do this?  Though she wasn't going to lie, she rocked the yoga student look.
     After another thirty minutes, the class ended and she left to the changing room, putting her jeans and favorite t-shirt back on before walking out the front door.
     Turning down Courier Boulevard, she comes to a stop at the door of a florist's shop and enters the establishment.
     "Kai, it's about time you showed up for work!" Her coworker and close friend, Lilium Belladonna, purrs as she walks in.
     "Sorry I wasn't here earlier, I fell asleep and then I had my yoga class.  I would've been here if I had my coffee."
     Lilium nods reassuringly, her notably dark purple eyes gleaming.
     "I understand, Kailynn, there's no need for you to worry about it.  After all, with our... Little arrangement... I would never fire you."
     "About that..." Kai starts, but another customer walks in, interrupting her.
     "Hi, Ms. Belladonna!  I need to pick up some flowers that my aunt ordered!"
     "Peter, I asked you to call me Ms. Lily.  However, your Aunt May's order is in, it's just around back.  Kai, dear, keep our first customer company for me, will you?"  Lilium disappears into the back room, leaving Kai alone with none other than Peter Benjamin Parker.
     The two teens stared at each other for a moment, the malachite green of Kailynn's eyes meeting the russet brown of Peter's.  Nervous couldn't begin to describe the emotions running through Kai's bloodstream.  What if I say something wrong?
     Then, Peter finally spoke up.
     "Aren't we in Mrs. Carson's Advanced Algebra class?"
     "I think so.  Peter Parker, right?"
     He nods, "Yeah.  I'm guessing you're Kailynn Tawni?"
    "Yes."
    "Well, " Peter says, "It's nice to finally meet you, Kai.  I know that we first met and all, but could I trouble you for your phone number?"
     "Oh my God... Did he just ask...?" Her thoughts were speeding through her head at a pace brisker than she could process, but she still manages to give a firm "Sure."
     "Alright... That's my number!"  Kailynn passes him a card, smiling as she did so.  Directly after, Lilium emerges from the back with a bouquet and hands it off to Peter (as May had prepaid).
     "Thanks Ms. Lily!  Bye, Kailynn!"
     "Goodbye dear!"
     "Bye, Peter."
     After the three had said their farewells, Kai's phone rings in her pocket.  She pulls it out, accepting the call as soon as she reads the name.
     "Yeah... What?  No no no, he can't be sending us out!  Kyoto, Japan?!  Alright, alright, could we talk when I get home?  I'm at Lilium's.  Okay, I'll see you then.  Okay, bye."
     Kai looks to Lilium, her eyes telling all of her worries.
     "Go.  If you need to leave, then go.  It's okay."
     "Thank you so much, Lilium!"  She kisses the 19 year-old's cheek before running out the front door.
Kyoto, of all the places?  What could be happening for her to be sent there?
