"Noah, get out!" I shouted as he pushed his way through the door.

"Just hear me out." He pleaded as he sat on my bed.

"Why? You clearly don't listen to me when I tell you to leave me alone!" I growl at him, still holding the door open so he knows that I have no intention of talking to him.

"Courtney, please. Just listen to what I have to say and I'll go. I won't ever bother you again." He tells me.

"Fine." I relented as I closed the door and stood in front of him, crossing my arms over my chest. "You have five minutes."

"The day I first met you, my first day at East Bend?" He began

"Yes." I said.

"That was not the first time I saw you."

"Ok..." I added, letting him know to keep going.

"The first time I saw you was at the beginning of our sophomore year. I had just changed schools to Heights and we were playing against East Bend." He rubbed his palms on his thighs.

"I ran out onto the field and I saw you. It was like I was drawn to you, you were the most beautiful girl I had ever seen." He looked into my eyes as he said this, letting me know he was being honest.

"I was mesmerized, no matter what I tried to do, I couldn't keep my eyes off of you. I completely lost focus of the game. I missed a catch that cost us the game. Coach was pissed. But I didn't care, all I could think about was you.

After the game, I was in the parking lot saying goodbye to my parents, and when I was walking back to the locker room, I saw you. You were walking out with your friends, you were laughing. I bumped into you, on purpose, hoping that you would notice me, I apologized profusely hoping to start a conversation. But you just smiled at me, told me it was fine, and then walked away. Seeing that smile, hearing your voice, hearing your laugh, Courtney, it ruined me." He confessed.

"Wow, I don't even remember us bumping into each other." I said quietly.

"That's because you only had eyes for Connor. When I asked around about you, everyone would tell me that you had a thing for him. I guess I just didn't take them seriously or maybe I was too blinded by you to realize that you were always looking at someone else." He replied.

"Noah.." I started.

"But eventually word got around to Connor that I was asking about you. He's hated me for a long time, Courtney, but that's a story for another time. Anyways, him and a couple of his buddies came to a Heights party once. He was acting friendly and even told me he wanted to make a truce. I didn't believe him at first, so he told me that he'd prove it by scoring me a date with you. I was skeptical at first, but then I eventually got a text from someone saying that they were you, asking me to meet you at this Italian place on your side of town.."

"Oh, Noah.." I said quietly, tearing up as I looked at the pain in his eyes. I knew exactly where this was going because mine and Connors first date had been there.

"I walked in, with a bouquet of flowers in my hand, I was so excited to see you. But then I saw you, sitting at a table with Connor. At first I was confused, but then he turned and looked at me and laughed and I knew he'd done it all to make a fool out of me." Noah hung his head in shame.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea." I cried, shocked that Connor was capable of being so mean to someone.

"Don't be sorry, Courtney, you did nothing wrong." He jumped up from the bed and held my face in his hands. After looking into my eyes for a few quiet seconds, he turned around and ran his hands through his hair before continuing the story.
