"He still won't sign them." I sigh as I sit in the chair across from my lawyer, Addison."I know. He stormed into my office the other day and told me." She raiseS her brow at me as she leans back in her chair.
I give her an apologetic look before huffing out a frustrated breath and putting my face in my hands.
"It's been three months. I figured he would have given up by now." I admit.
"What's my next option?" I ask after a moment of silence.
"Take him to court. Have a judge grant you a divorce." She says matter-of-factly.
"Court? How long will that take?"
"It's usually a lengthy process but I can get us in a court room next week."
"I leave for school in five days." I sigh in defeat.
She gives me a sympathetic look as I rub my throbbing temples with my fingers.
"Listen, I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but you might have to leave for college as a married woman. You can come back next summer and we can settle all of this then. That's if he doesn't sign them eventually."
She's right.
This isn't what I want to hear.

"Dude, you leave tomorrow! You're coming to this party." Taylor glares at me while I tape my last box shut.
"I have to wake up early, T. I don't want to go to a party." I whine.
"Listen here, bitch." I gasp in mock anger at her name calling. "You are leaving tomorrow. And then I won't see you for who knows how long. You're coming to this party even if I have to drag you there by your hair."
"Ok fine, god. No need to get violent." I scowl at her as she jumps up and down in excitement.
"But I'm not drinking." I laugh when her face falls and she immediately stops jumping in place.
"What the fuck?! Why?" She childishly stomps her foot.
"It's a seventeen hour drive, T." I roll my eyes at her. "I'm not doing it with a hangover."
"Ugh! Whatever then you can be my designated driver." She smiles.
"Fine by me. Let me see if my mom will let us take her Range Rover." I wink at her as I exit my room.
"Mom!" I call out as I trot down the stairs.
"Yeah?" She calls back.
"Me and Taylor are going out tonight for our last hoorah. Since I'm the DD can I borrow your car?" I give her a shy smile.
"Hmm. That's strange, don't you mean your car?" She turns to me with a mischievous grin.
"What?" I look at her in confusion. "Are you drunk?"
"Am I dru-, No!" She rolls her eyes at me.
"Oh."
"What I'm saying-" She gives me a pointed look, "is that me and your father are giving you my car."
"You're...you're giving me the range?!" I ask with a dumbfounded look on my face.
"Yes. You thought we were going to send you off to college without a car?" She chuckles.
"Oh my god, thank you!" I squeal as I run up and throw my arms around her, almost knocking her to the ground.
"No, thank you. I've had my eye on a Lexus for months and this was how I convinced your father to let me get it." She laughs as I shake my head.
