Papa We Are Here

Anurag went to pick up NiviDi from the airport and he had yet not told Pree about the surprise visit by NiviDi. He had ordered all her favourite food and other things to lure her into her happy self. He was grumbling about the hail storm that suddenly hit the city… But then when he was back his Pree would have everything ready for him. He was expecting some special dish today as he has made a special request. He didn't want to get bashed for not letting her prepare something special for NiviDi.

They managed to come home and found everything laid on the table. His clothes laid on the bed and then a note telling him one of her friends from the home for alzheimer's patients she worked with for two days a week has fallen sick and needed help with her kids. So she has gone there to  help her. Anurag was damn irritated. She never did something like this and in this weather how was she managing? The weather had caused havoc with the telephone connectivity. He immediately messaged her on email. There was no response…

He was going a bit mad worrying about her. How come he never heard of these friends before. Yes he knew about her work but not much beyond.

Nivi was getting fresh in their bathroom as the plumbing of the guest bedroom had some problems. When she came out of the dressing room she was smiling while holding something in her hand.

Nivi: How sweet she is? Anu teri na kismat achhi hai jo tujhe Pree jaisi ladki mili. Awww look at her… pure jahan mein aisi cutie patootie nahi milne wali. 

Anu was irritated with Pree already so Nivi’s made him turn to look at her. Nivi gave him the sweet pastel pouch. Anurag opened the pouch with some instinct telling him its going to change something major in his life’s course. He upended the pouch in his palm to see One Small studded bear with guitar and blue studded jacket, and a Chicken half way out of her shell pink studded jacket. The blue one had Jr. Grumpy and the pink one had Baby Chuza written on their tummy. And a note which said “Papa We Are Here”. Anurag was speechless and he had gone white. He found a folded paper which had the date of Naresh’s incident. It was her Pregnancy Test report... And he remembered he had seen candles placed all over the drawing room and bedroom when they had come back from the hospital the next morning. 

Anurag: (turned to Nivi with a kind of horror in his eyes) NiviDi i goofed up…. I made her ...I mean… Oh God this is why she has been so upset and drawn. But where is she now. I need to find her…. NiviDi I dont know i am feeling so restless. She is not okay, she hasn’t been okay but I never guessed… I actually forbade her to have kids… NiviDi

Nivi: Anu are you mad? What do you mean by “you forbade her to have kids” you stupid fool. Anu where is she? What did you tell her? Anu are you even listening to me you stupid man….ONUUUU!!!!

Anurag was running through the house searching for numbers and trying to trace Pree’s  friend when someone called at the house number. 

Anu: Hello!

Naresh: Hello… Anurag Sir? 

Anu : Naresh?
