Prologue

"We don't need to runaway, Ma! I told you, I can make it up to Dorothy." I exclaimed while looking at her while she's driving. Fast. Like we're running from someone I don't know.

"She didn't know that I used that on her and apparently, my school's been silent." I added.

Knowing that my school is so particular on news and such inside the premises, we should at least hear from them by now.

I saw how mom slightly shakes her head to disagree. "No honey. We don't know that." She said in a sad tone.

"Now that you've used your ability on her subconsciously, I'm afraid to tell you that they might know what you are and where you are right of this moment." She added.

All I can sense from her is that, she's worried and afraid.

I was taken aback. I don't think that my ability could bring me into this position. I always thought that it doesn't matter because it doesn't do me anything in particular.

"Mavis." Mom gasps.

I was back from spacing out and looked at the window. I see a lot of pine trees by now.

"Your nose..." I whisper staring back at my mom now. I immediately reach for the tissue and handed it to her.

"You don't need to hide us anymore mom. You're exhausting yourself from using it."

I reach for her hand and I know that I can somehow lift her weariness.

She faintly smile and told me this, "Just promise me that you won't get caught. And please, continue your studies. I love you so much my princess."
