This is the hunt

"What are we going to do? I can't let Luka get away with trying to kill me," I say, speaking of my ex-boyfriend, Luka Ivanov, who turned against me when I came back to Russia and took back my place as the Romanov princess. Luka is the eldest son of Nikolai Ludovich Ivanov, an artillery general in the Imperial Russian Army. Nikolai is actually my godfather on my mom's side and still loves me. His second youngest and youngest boys, Nikolai Jr., and Drago love me. The only one in that family who has a problem with me is Luka.

"We could go on the defensive," My boss at the FSB says to me. Just then my phone blows out my text tone which is 'Unwell' by Matchbox twenty. I look at the message and it says 11-22-33 which is Alexei and I's distress signal.

"I've got to go! We'll talk about this later!" I say, running to my office, slipping my gun holster, my gun in it, onto my belt, sliding my leather jacket on, grabbing my pocketbook and keys then running out of the building. I get in my truck, toss my bag into the passenger seat, buckle in, Jam my keys into the ignition, turn it on, put it in gear and pull out, heading to the only place where he could be being held which is our old fishing cabin. I have no idea how Luka knows about that or how he knows about Alexei being my godfather. Unless somebody close to me told him about those two things. I think about that as I'm driving and realize who possibly could have told Luka about the fishing cabin and Alexei's relationship to me and that's Luka's half-sister, Natasha Lenkov. I dig out my phone and call Nikolai.

"Hello," he says when he answers the phone.

"Nikolai, I need your help. Luka has Alexei at the fishing cabin and Natasha told him about both of those things. I need your help to get him back and convince Luka that what he's doing is wrong and hurts our family. I mean, I know he's mad at me because he wanted to marry my half-sister, Anya, who's only 17, and become king but Rafael and I are the actual heirs to the Russian throne. Anya's only my half-sister. We share the same dad but we don't share the same mom and half-siblings have no right to the throne. He's mad at me because Anya was the temporary heir to the throne while dad and I were gone but now that I'm back and have taken my rightful place as the crown princess of Russia he's trying to kill me so that dad and mom will have to make her the crown princess of Russia because then he'll be able to marry her and become the crown prince of Russia. Right now my Fiance, Ray, is the crown prince of Russia because I'm the crown princess," I explain to him.

"He WHAT?! I'll meet you at the fishing cabin," he says. I can hear a door slamming as he runs out to his car. I hang up and speed down the highway toward Kenozersky National Park which is where the fishing cabin is. I get there, approach the cabin, my gun drawn, and have to dive to the ground because, all of a sudden, there are bullets flying right where my head just was. I text my boss at the FSB the number 77 which is our emergency distress signal. Five minutes later Nikolai is pulling in with my boss's car right behind him. 

"Ilena? Are you hurt?" Nikolai asks, running over and helping me to my feet.

"No. Luka has a gun though. Not sure where he got it but the minute I got close to the cabin he started firing at me," I say. I get closer and he starts firing again but this time I use my gymnastics training and flip over, slide under and twirl around the bullets until I get to the front door. I kick it down and put a bullet in Luka's left leg.

"We're good guys! You can come in now!" I say, kicking the gun away from Luka and out the door. They come in and my boss handcuffs Luka and takes him out to his vehicle while Nikolai and I look for Alexei. We find him in the cellar, handcuffed to a pipe with a giant bump on his head. We uncuff him, help him up and help him out of the house. Nikolai puts him in the passenger side of his car and takes him to University Central Hospital to get him checked out while I follow my boss back to our headquarters to lock my eldest godbrother up.
