CHAPTER ONE
"Now let's all give a round of applause to our CEO, Engr. Leo Danford!"
My dad stood up and walked towards the stage of the ballroom. After he has finally reached the stage, we all got off our seats to give my dad a deafening applause.
Matapos ang halos 15 seconds, naupo na rin kaming lahat as we all listened to what my father has to say.
"25 years ago, my father, the late Engr. Rosco Danford found a--"
"Bon! Bon!" my brother whispered while nudging me. Eto na naman si kuya! Di na naman makikinig sa speech ni papa tapos ako yung guguluhin!
Hindi ko muna pinansin si kuya Jerome kaya di rin niya 'ko tinigilan!
"Bon!" he called.
I turned to my kuya and asked him, "What's that ba kuya Je? Can't you see that I'm listening sa speech ni papa?"
"Can't you see that I'm listening sa speech ni papa?!" he mimicked sabay kuha ng champagne niya na agad ko namang binawi.
Napatingin naman kaming dalawa ni kuya dun sa may direction ng kamay ko na hawak ang champagne glass niya, of course si kuya doon napatingin sa inumin niya, pero ako, doon ako napatingin sa may mini bar na nasa may direksyon ng kamay ko. There was somebody who's parang drunk na kasi eh. Tss, yan ang gagawin ni kuya eh! Magpapakalasing na naman!
"Kuya, wag ka nga'ng uminom!"
"Oh c'mon, Bon!--"
"Kuya, for the nth time it's Yvonne!"
He shrugged then started, "Okay Yvonne"
"Champagne lang 'yan, okay? Besides, nasa party tayo! We might as well just enjoy it!"
Napa-roll ako ng mata dahil sa sinabi niya. Eh di na-mention na rin niya! "Exactly kuya, nasa party tayo ni papa kaya WE MIGHT AS WELL JUST OBEY HIS RULES." I said, stressing my main point and then he surrendered.
"Tss, you're such a killjoy."
"Immature boy."
Kuya Je cocked an eyebrow which means that he's getting irritated of me again. He opened his mouth to say something kaso naunahan siya ni papa na nagsasalita pa rin sa harap.
"--my only son, William Jerome Danford, and my daughter, Mikaela Yvonne Danford. Yes, they are my sources of strength. And in the future, the two of them will take over the company and continue the golden legend of our corporation."
After hearing those words, kuya Je stared at me in horror as I smiled sweetly at him. Sus! Ngayon pa siya natakot kung kelan may dalawang taon na lang siya before he graduates.
Nang natapos na ang speech ni papa ay inihanda ko na agad ang sarili ko.
"And now, to give us a splendid taste of her music, may we call on Miss Mikaela Yvonne to play the piano for us." tita Gertrude, our corporation's board member announced.
I stood up as the gazes turned to me. I gave them a closed mouth smile before walking towards the area of the hall where the grand piano was.
Tita Gertrude smiled at me before handing the mic. I smiled at her in return and bowed my head a little to thank her.
I stared at the crowd and gave them my best smile as I spoke, "The piece that I'll be playing for tonight is from one of Beethoven's romantic collection."
