SkekUng skulked about his chamber, hands behind his back and brows furrowed. what was it?
He'd never felt like that before. Was he ill? Perhaps the food had made him dizzy earlier and that's why he felt the warmth. Yes. That's why.
But it didn't explain how he felt comfortable in the presence of that... that.. whimpering worm. The one Skeksis who truly made him want to commit mass genocide. He shook his head and tried to think of any reasonable excuse, picking up a small bone and fiddling with it. It made him nervous. Anxious. Was he losing his nerve? Over a petty moment that probably meant nothing? Absolutely. Carefully, General set the bone back on it's resting space upon a small bedside table and found himself speeding down the hall toward the Scientist's workshop. He needed answers, and SkekTek could give him those answers.
Without a warning, the large wooden frame of the door burst open- sending SkekTek into a panic. He whipped his head to meet the gaze of SkekUng and gave an irritated (and half relaxed) sigh. "You.. need to stop doing that, General. My heart will burst one of these days... what is the matter?" hissed SkekTek, trying to keep his temper at bay.
SkekUng shut the door behind him and cleared his throat, "I.. I need to ask you, something. How much do you know of feelings? Have you studied them?".
What an odd question coming from the cold-hearted General. the Scientist cocked a brow and craned his head back in confusion. "A.. little. why?". He sounded suspicious.
"Well... I.. It's complicated. Earlier I was in the tunnels with the Garthim. Chamberlain had followed me, but when I went to confront him I felt... comfy? happy almost? that he was there, and I hate that fool more than anything..".
SkekTek blinked.
There was no way this was happening. It was too good to be true. he had studied quite a few emotions and feelings. He gave a toothy grin and laughed loudly. The General blinked and peered, "Speak! WHAT IS IT?!" he boomed.
"Why General.. y-you... HAHA! You've fallen in love!".
That accusation was the worst. SkekUng snarled loudly, his wings raising and teeth-baring. LOVE? NEVER. Especially not with that disgusting brat!
SkekTek jumped back as SkekUng swung a fist, clearly that wasn't good news. "W-Wait! Maybe you've just pushed a few past squabbles behind!?". There was no backtracking this time.
Satisfied with the damage he'd down to the Workshop, the Garthim Master made his way back to his chamber. "love? HA! He reads to many novels...". SkekUng cracked his neck and shook himself a bit, sighing thankfully that he felt much safer now and locked his door behind him. He wouldn't be able to stand seeing SkekSil. Why was he afraid now? He could easily pummel the fool! but did he want to?.... not really.
------------
Thunder and lightning echoed in the halls of the castle. Dinner this evening was better than usual, probably because SkekAyuck actually took his time. TheRoast Nebrie was always the best. SkekSil hummed happily and ate, he had just nearly forgotten what had happened earlier that day. But, even he had to admit; the Garthim Master's looks didn't seem as harsh and cold anymore. It made him even more on edge. Dinner seemed quick, and it was still early in the day once it was all over, so SkekSil made his way to the castle's forgotten Library. It was a quiet and nearly untouched place; not even SkekOk went it there. It was a safe space of sorts, besides going outside and leaving the Castle grounds entirely. He felt someone following him and rushed. Once he was in the Library he quickly shut the doors and barred them, not wanting to be bothered at the moment. There was a knock. a pound. and then silence. "Must..Must have been General" he hissed to himself and backed off from the door.
The Library had always been full of plants. It was truly abandoned after the first few weeks of their arrival at the Castle. SkekSil vaguely recalled he and SkekMal would come here to read about Thra's creatures. He had been Hunter's assistant, partner if he was bold enough to say that.
His talons brushed the spines of a few books before he reached for one. This one was one he hadn't been able to read, nor would he ever. It was in a foreign language; most likely Gelfling-Kind. When the Gelflings lived amongst the Castle, life was simple. Not so much anymore. SkekSil sighed at the memories.. especially those of the childlings. He grew to adore them, and they grew on him. a soft spot of sorts. There was once a time where he would occasionally monitor the childlings for the Gelflings. That was before the incidents began occurring...
"Ah.. oh well. No matter. Am happy now, suppose", he huffed to himself and set the book back.
Things would never, ever, be like they used to.
