And So It Shall Be

SkekSil paced. Waiting was never an ideal for him. He tapped his talons along his beak and scanned his eyes amongst the thousands of book spines that line the dark wooden shelves. Everything smelt of dust and age, truly this was his own sanctuary. "Perhaps, should move into here", the Chamberlain snickered to himself. It was a very pleasant and warm space. The chandeliers above were constantly lit and flickered with an undying flame.

He sat himself down in a chair, trying his hardest to be patient. "... what could be taking him so long?" He huffed and stood right back up onto the balls of his feet. As if on a cue, SkekUng opened the large creaky door and lugged in with him what appeared to be two packs and a set of armor. The Garthim Master had redressed in his own armor that shined in the dim light. Chamberlain tilted his head , "Two sets?"

SkekUng set down the bags and laid the armor out on a table, it was fitted to someone much smaller than himself. It wasnt anything special, typical and traditional Skeksis metal work. "They're for you, Chamberlain. Your robes would get caught on tree stumps and ruined by the mud."
SkekSil let out a curious sound and walked over, examining his soon to be new attire. "Hmm... yes, this will do nicely. Thank you, SkekUng". Hearing his name used so unformerly allowed SkekUng to relax and warm up even more to the whining Chamberlain. He couldnt help but smile a bit. "I'll let you get changed, I still have to go get our food. I wont be long". SkekSil frowned "I dont have a clue how to put these on, General!".
The General wanted to shrivel a bit; he had forgotten SkekSil wasn't present during the battles. He hissed to himself and than proceeded to aid the Chamberlain. He was precautious about not peeking as that would be embarrassing for both skeksis. A few minutes of tustling and tightening later, SkekSil looked like he would be ready for war. Seeing his rival in armor was something SkekUng never thought he would see, he always pictured Chamberlain as one to hide away in cause of a fight. He had stared for a bit to long though, because SkekSil looked directly into his eyes, "Something you like, General?" Hissed the Chamberlain.

Never. Ever. Would he have expected that to come out of the skeksis beak. "I-I'm just making sure everything looks like it fits, Chamberlain.".
They both stayed silent and made their way out of the Library, both carrying a pack. Chamberlain yet again glanced up at the General. He too, was beggining to feel those safe and comforting emotions. "Thank you again, General.  It's nice that you've been kind... am thankful", SkekSil felt his face heat up as he spoke. SkekUng looked down and nodded "I'm glad. I hope with everything SkekTek said.. I hope it doesn't bother you".
SkekSil shook his head and continued walking, "Will meet you outside. Come when you have enough rations".

SkekUng's heart was fluttering. He couldn't help but keep smiling; causing SkekAyuk and SkekEkt to give him queer looks. He was never this happy. "Perhaps he's just excited to be leaving?" Whispered SkekEkt. "Probably. It does get rather dull around here".

Tip, tap, tap, tip
Rain on the metal armor made the smallest of noises. SkekSil barely remembered the last time he had been outside. The air smelt fresh, cool and clean... the wet sand beneath his feet crunched and all of it made him feel young... alive. The cold wind gave him a feeling of true excitment and made him grin giddy. It reminded him of SkekMal. Free, exciting and full of pride. Thats what this weather made SkekSil feel... pride. "Only if I could be taking this adventure with you, friend.". Than he remembered his dream, perhaps he could use this trip to his advantage. His own "prophecy" of sorts. "Podling hut... the podling stay around the Drechen clans..." SkekSil noted silently as the clunking of heavier armor was audible behind him.
SkekUng took a deep breath and sighed. "Let's go, we have much to do".

It had never been reaching the tree lines that was difficult, it was getting inside the forest that was tedious. So much debris, broken branches and pricker bushes. SkekUng swung his arm to clear out a path slowly for them, SkekSil crouching and dodging many of the harmless plants. "Thick isnt it?" Chuckled SkekUng, "By the time we get in it will be night fall".
"Should we find a place to spend the night, than?".
SkekUng looked back at Chamberlain, who was bending down to pick up something from the ground. He quickly glanced and immediatly grabed the other skeksis wrist, which was about to touch an iritating plant that would cause him to itch and whine. "Dont, thats bad" said the General, as calmly as possible. SkekSil looked up, his brown eyes boring into SkekUng's causing the larger skeksis heart to skip. "Will it hurt me?", his voice sounded sweet. "Y-Yes." . He hadnt realized he was now holding SkekSils hand until the Chamberlain pulled it away slowly.

"We should continue than, I am getting tired... ".
It didnt take long for SkekUng to break through the brush and find a decent camping spot. He set up a small space for the Chamberlain to rest and set up most of the camp by himself. He couldnt deny his feelings any longer.
