The Office (AU)

episode one - the pilot (part one)

This story is written as screenplay. I tried to make it easier to understand, but it'll get better. Still, I hope you enjoy!*

(various office sounds; phones ringing, typing, copy machine noises, etc.)

DALIS: (talking in the conference room to the interviewer) I have been at Dunder Mifflin for about... three months now. I'm the first person you see when you walk in and that's pretty cool I guess. I graduated high school a few years ago and I was supposed to be majoring in criminal justice, but somehow I ended up here instead, thanks to my father. I'm making good money, so I guess I'm not complaining.

DALIS'S VOICEOVER: (camera panning to people all around the office) I usually like to keep to myself and not say too much, but I've found out a lot about these people from the last few years.

DALIS: (continued) My father used to be over human resources here, and, well, you all could probably guess who he is. He's been living in New York for almost 7 years now. My mom sends me up there ever so often, but he's got a new wife who he met through Tinder. She's from Costa Rica. I can never understand what she's saying though; that's the problem. When she speaks to me, I kinda just sit there like...

Um, soooo... wait... who should I start with? Oh! I know! Wait... Actually...

(cuts to Theme Music above.)

DALIS'S VOICEOVER: (camera cuts to DWIGHT talking on the phone) So this is my boss, Dwight Schrute. He is the regional manager of the Scranton branch. Since he took this position, he's hired on some new people who I've somehow gotten along with.

(cuts to talking to the interviewer) His wife, Angela, used to work here but now she's a stay at home mother to their 5 children.

DWIGHT: (talking to the interviewer separately) I have been regional manager here for 6 years now and these 6 years have been nothing short of fabulous. I've worked so hard to get here.

DWIGHT'S VOICEOVER: (camera crew is at his farm filming Angela and the kids) My wife has been wonderful. We have 4 kids and my stepson of course. Schrute Farms is now a corporate business, specializing in various vegetables but mostly beets. My brother and sister are currently running the business right now while I'm here at Dunder Mifflin, doing my civic duty as being manager.

(camera cuts back to the office)

DALIS'S VOICEOVER: (camera points to ANDY) Andy is now Dwight's "right hand man". We instantly clicked as soon as we met in the break room. I tell him all of my gossip and he tells me all of his. He's my lunch buddy. Okay, that sounded awkward.

(camera cuts to ANDY and DALIS talking in the break room for a few seconds) We've laughed, cried, basically done everything best friends usually do. He's my go-to for literally everything. We even get our eyebrows waxed together. (a few seconds of awkward silence.) He was able to get his job back with the company but with restrictions. He's also banned from Cornell University for... life.

(cuts to a scene with RYAN and KELLY holding a baby a piece) Ryan and Kelly, um, eloped and had twins. They'll usually come in holding them and showing them off. Dwight's still kind of iffy on that subject because he claims that "it takes away from our work flow" or something to that effect. Ryan had another baby that had been missing since Dwight and Angela's wedding, but I'm pretty sure that this statement would probably clear everything up about that.

(cuts to NELLIE walking in the park with her sons and DAVID B.) Nellie was sent back to the UK with said baby and Ryan lost all rights of seeing his kid since Kelly's pediatrician ex-boyfriend gave Ryan's baby to Nellie and is now the legal guardian. Now she's married to one of our international salesmen, David Brent. They have a daughter together, but that's not too important right now.
