I've strayed a bit away from the tower and I gaze at the different sizes of cars and people walking by me. I find a nice patch of green and trees and benches. It was snowing but I didn't mind the cold.
I run over to the park and stroll through the snow and concrete before coming to a stop at a bench. I hadn't been walking that long but the park was larger than I had expected. I see a large pond a few feet away from the bench I had stopped at and I lay on the bench.
I look to the cloudy sky and I momentarily close me eyes. But I couldn't help but sleep from the exhaustion.
I wake up suddenly to nothing. There was no one around me and no sudden sound. Maybe it was just my subconscious trying to wake myself up in time to go back to the tower. Or the cold. Maybe it was just the cold.
I start to panic as I notice the sun was dangerously low to the horizon. I rub my hands together when I realize I had been shivering.
I make my way out of the park and find my way back into the busy city. The sight made me gasp in delight. I involuntarily smile at the signs and the blurred night sky when I hear muffled music and singing from a building.
I stand in front of the building with more lights than I could see emanating from it. Intrigued, I walk into the building and become uncomfortable with the pounding music filling my ears.
"Hey pretty thing, mind a drink?" I turn around to see a scruffy looking man handing me a drink. I grab the tall glass and look at him confused. "Drink up girl." He drinks his own cup and I still clutch my cup, unsure of what to do. "Don't worry I didn't taint it." He slurs and lightly touches my hand with his.
"She's not taking that." I look to the side to see Bucky urgently take the glass out of my hand and hand it back to the stranger. He turns around and towers above me and mutters, "let's go."
He lightly leads my arm out of the building. He walks briskly and I follow behind him. We stop in a alleyway.
"Hey what were you doing inside a club?" He plainly asks, but I could see his jaw tightly clenched.
"I was curious." I plainly say back. "What was in that drink?"
"Probably alcohol. Probably something to get you to vulnerable." Bucky doesn't look into my eyes as he glances across the street. "You shouldn't be roaming the streets."
I frown. "I can handle myself Bucky." I wanted to move him, but I liked the feeling of him staying close. Just like this morning.
He exhales and nods. "I know that doll. I just worry for you."
My face feels hot as I listen to him.
"We should go back."
I frown but nod. I follow him back to the tower and we take the elevator. He walks me back to my room. "How did you find me?" I ask.
"I'm the winter soldier. It's what I do." He says and I cock my head at him.
"How was the mission?" I cross my arms as we stand in the doorway of my bedroom.
"Long story short, if we hadn't gone, it wouldn't have changed anything."
We stay in silence before I snap out of my thoughts. "Take me with you guys on your next mission. I'm sure I could use my skills to help you with anything."
He pauses before answering. "Maybe. I'll have to run it through Steve. But you should rest."
"No." I say abruptly. "If anything I need this mission. I need a distraction." I pause as he doesn't say anything. "Ple-."
