Hannah
“What did you want to ask her?” Hannah inquired.
“Actually I didn’t want to ask anything,” Neville admitted “you just looked so upset… are you ok?”
Hannah gave a strained smile as they walked out of the Great Hall together, away from the chattering students. “Thanks - I don’t know what’s wrong with me - I… just…”
She trailed off with a guilty expression. Hannah looked back up, her golden hair falling around her shoulders in a sheet, to see Neville smiling encouragingly back at her. Hannah began to wonder how he managed to notice her. No one really noticed her apart from Evie and… well, Ced.
She sighed, “It’s Cedric. He was like my older brother and I loved him so much. I can’t believe he’s gone…” Hannah began to falter, wondering how much she should tell Neville, but one look at his caring face helped her continue. “It’s also Ben… I don’t think I actually like him that much anymore. The world is changing but every time I wrote to him over the summer, he just went on and on about Quidditch, never asking about me, and… I dunno, he's just the same guy, but I'm chang—”
A jolt of electricity shot up Hannah's arm as Neville took her hand in his, and she faltered.
“Hannah,” he began, looking into her eyes with his own chocolate ones. “I think you should do what you want- If you don’t want to be with Ben, then just don’t. But to be honest, he can be a bit of a twat.” Neville grinned.
Hannah just stared at him, surprised at what was just said. Neville had matured so much and she hadn’t realised. Before, he was a nervous little boy, but now his features were more defined, he was a lot taller - Hannah came up to his nose - and she could say that he was actually good looking. The blonde internally shook herself, surprised at that.
“Uh… thanks Nev. You’re right. I don’t think I'm the same girl, he's stuck in his ways, and things have been off between us for a while."
Neville just smiled, and squeezed her hands, looking down at her with an intense gaze.
That was when Hannah noticed how close they were standing. Their faces had somehow become mere inches away from each other. Hannah subconsciously darted her eyes down to his lips, and back up again in shock. What am I doing?
Hannah snapped out of her trance, wrenching her hands out of his and stumbling backwards, startling Neville so that he tripped forwards into Hannah, her head cracking against the thick stone wall behind her, and forcing her world into darkness.
