He was standing behind his parents, with his brother beside him as they waited in the palace hall for them to enter.

The trio finally came, an air of superiority and grandeur following them: The Royal family of Vanaheim, the grandiose king Alec, with his beautiful but vain wife Valencia and their daughter (y/n), confident and bold in the way she held her head and strode behind her parents.

"We welcome you to Asgard, Lord Alec, Lady Valencia, princess (y/n)." Said Frigga, smiling and noding at each one as she spoke their names. "We hope your journey was comfortable?"

"Oh, the journey was far from..." Lady Valencia began exclaiming but stopped when she received a stern look from her husband.

"The journey, however it may have been, we are hopeful that whatever we will be able to achieve here, will make it worth it" replied the king formally.

"Yes we are hopeful of that to." Spoke the All father. "And this must be your daughter, lady (y/n), I presume?" He said, getting right down to business.

"Yes. This is our beautiful and lovely daughter. She is our pride and the pride of Vanaheim. She is the perfect match for your son." Said the king Alec as he moved aside and princess (y/n) courtesied and smiled at the royal audience gathered before her.

He smirked when he saw her movements, graceful but fake. He saw right through her facade, she had no more a desire to marry his brother, Prince Thor, the would-be king of Asgard, than he had of marrying her. This was all an arrangement that the kings and queens of the two realms had come up with to strengthen the bond between their realms. He almost laughed aloud at the thought of what would happen between the two realms when, and not if, their marriage failed.

"Thank you for having us here, My lord, my lady." Spoke princess (y/n).

"The pleasure is all ours, dear" said Frigga affectionately.

"Let me introduce you to our sons." Said the All father. "This is our first son, Prince Thor, the future king of Asgard. And this is Prince Loki."

Thor took the princess' hand, kissed it and smiled at her. She returned his smile politely. Her first impression of Thor was a good one. His behaviour was gentlemanly and he seemed good natured. Although she wasn't attracted to him, she felt that if she had to be married, Thor appeared kind enough for her to be able to spend the rest of her life with him.

This was not how she had imagined her marriage to be. Married to a stranger, who though kind and gentle, wasn't attracted to her, nor she to him. But there was no denying her parents wishes. She was of age, and she had to be married royally. She mentally sighed as she thought this.

The younger prince, however, didn't appear that affable. She had seen him smirk and it annoyed her. It felt as though he could read her thoughts. Who did he think he was! She had felt like slapping his smirk right off his face. But here she was nodding and smiling at the two brothers like an idiot. If only her parents hadn't been around...

Loki didn't kiss her hand. He only nodded his head slightly in her direction almost as though he didn't think she was worthy of a proper bow from him. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes, instead, she kept her smile in place.
