Song for this chapter: killer by Pehobe Bridgers

My hands  clutch the bed sheets under me as my eyes shoot open and take in the all to familiar hospital room. I allow my eyes to focus on my surroundings and my hearing to return. The first thing I hear, other than the steadily beeping of my heart monitor- is slightly muffled yelling of a masculine voice, I strain my ears to understand what is being said.

"Why- waking up-she knows ab- me now-" One voice stops as another voice cuts in. "Alph- woke up-" the second voice being slightly quieter and having a nervous tone to it.

I hear multiple sets of foot steps approaching my door, and now take notice to my sleeping mother in the corner of the room. The rapid footsteps waking her up and grasping her attention to my now awake form.

She springs up from her seat and sprints to my bed side. "Honey you're okay, I'm so- hmhphy" the end of her sentence is muffled by her  pulling me into an embrace and resting her head on my shoulder.

The doors burst open, with It entering first, and a horrified looking doctor following on his tail.

My mother glares at them both, presumably for interrupting our "moment".

"Kendra-" It starts to speak but quickly stops when it notices me looking for something to defend myself with.

My mother, noticing my panicking; looks it dead in the eye and almost growls out "Get the hell out." While pointing to the door nearly knocked off its hinges moments ago.

He growls and nearly breaks the door again, by slamming it open, the horrific noise earning a scream from me and my mom.

"What the hell is wrong with that boy?" My mom whisper yells at me, but her words are barley audible with the extream beeping of my heart monitor.

It's only then when my mother is outside my room talking to the doctor about when I can be released, that I remember what that thing did to my father.

I choke on air and do as best as I can to back myself up against my bed, scrambling to get out of bed. Forcibly, I yank all the wires out of me causing me to start bleeding. I stand up and my legs start shaking, I stumble to the  closest wall and use it to balance me as best as possible. The machines that were hooked up to me are now beeping rapidly and my arms are dripping in blood and tears run down my face.

"Mom-" I try to call out, but my throat almost fails and makes it a pathetic squeak.

I run out of wall to brace on and my legs give out, my knees and palms make contact with the smooth and steral hospital floor. I start crawling to the door to try to get my mom so we can get out of this hell.

I'm hit with a breeze of air as the door swings open nearly right next to my head.

"Kendra!" It says with what I can only describe as fake worry and concern in his voice.

"No-" I wheeze out and push myself up so I'm sitting on my ass. I begin to try to push myself back but find I'm relying on only my legs, my arms are being covered in numbness from the blood loss. I still do my best to force my arms to support me, but of course with my luck, my hand lands on the blood pooled on the floor and my head bounces on the tile, effectively knocking me out.

My eyes shoot open I grip my head in pain. My head feels as if someone is trying to escape from the inside. The bed I'm in is not a framilliar one, as well as the room. The room, other than my room is full of neutral colors, greys, whites, and blacks; very homey but modern. The bed is more firm than mine but still has a comfortable sense.

Rather than re-creating my last attempt to get out of bed, I take it slower. Placing my feet on the side of the bed as best I can, the pads of my feet barley touching the floor.

Pushing myself to my feet, I allow my dizziness to fade. Oh God, please don't tell me I'm at its house? Wait why would I be at his house? Weres my mother?

I stop myself before I get dizzy again, walking to the door I pull it open and peak my head outside.

Long empty halls, I look down each way before making my way to the side with stairs that lead down. After descending multiple flights of stairs I finally reach the bottom, when I realize I'm in its house.

I run to the exit and shut the door as quickly and quietly as I can, and make my way sprinting down the framilliar dirt road.

After a long run/walk near the end, I finally reach my house; thankful that I remembered the way back- I knock on my door and my mother opens it.
