Ch.14

"Oh, my God. This breakfast is marvelous!" Mom said

"Thank you. This is just a simple meal I can cook" Max answer mom

"Adeline dear, do you stay in here as well?" Mom ask Adeline

"No. I'm staying at the city. This is Max's house"

"Oh, great. What do you say if we come back together today? I want to stay close with Vicky, is that okay with you?"

"Of course. You can see Vicky whenever you want"

"What Martha mean is, stay with us"

"Oh, no. That's..."

"Think about it okay?" Adeline nodded and look at Arthur who gives her reassuring smile

Albert and Marta play with Vicky. They couldn't be happier than this day.
But Adeline is heavily sighed.

"You okay?" Arthur ask her

"Not really."

"What is bothering you?"

"Sarah"

"Oh, her... I'll talk to her when we come back to the city. I can't lose you anymore. I need you and Vicky in my life"

"Arthur, I won't leave you. Not with Vicky is in our life. She needs us and I need you as much as you need me. But I want you to put Sarah first."

"You want to be my second wife?"

"Yes. It was you and her from the beginning, long before we met. It is just fair for her"

"I talk to her but no promise. Either she will leave me or agree with you. But I'm not gonna lose you. I love you"

In the evening they arrived at Adeline's place. It a nice penthouse with a city view. Albert and Marta promise their granddaughter they will come often to play with her and they leave after that.

Vicky didn't want her father go, afraid he might not come back.

"Daddy promise will come home tonight to you and mommy. And you will see me when you wake up tomorrow morning, okay princess?"

"Pinky swear?" Vicky said in tears

"Pinky swear" Vicky left to her room.

"Are you gonna be alright tonight?" Arthur ask Adeline

"Yes. I will wait for you."

"Go to sleep when you are too tired"

"Just called me when you are done, okay? I love you"

"I love you more"

Arthur tries to call Sarah several times but after a few rings, it direct to voicemail. He decides to drove off to her place and found Sarah is in Simon's arms.
Simon looks up and shocks when he sees Arthur is standing at the door.
"It's not what it looks like man!" Simon get up and retreat a few steps from Sarah

Sarah look up and saw Arthur. Her eyes were swollen from crying. He stares at Simon like he wants to kill him. That man knows it's time for his leaving.

"Look, man, I don't want trouble..."

"Get out now or I'll kill you with my own hands," Arthur said and Simon runs for his life.

"Arthur, Simon just comfort me. Trust me, we are just friends, nothing more"

"Why are you crying?"

"I thought you will leave me" The moment Sarah touch his body, he knows his heart not just beating for Adeline alone.

"Who is she? That woman that you went to yesterday?"

"We need to talk"

"I'm talking right now. She is not your client isn't she?"

"She is... the mother of my daughter. And I still love her"

Sarah's crying and hug Arthur tighter. She know there is something between them from her investigations. But she can't tell what is that. That woman have no records anywhere.

"Will you leave me for her?"

"No, that's why we need to talk" Arthur guide Sarah to the couch.

"Sarah, I won't deny for this couple months I have grown feelings to you. But I also still in love with her. And I just find out yesterday that I have a daughter who is six years old now. She broke up with me after I told her about you. And she told me, she wants me to put you up first."

"Who am I will be if you are still in love with her? Can you love two person at the same time?"

"I can and I will love you both fairly"

"What is her name? Your daughter"

"Victoria. You should meet her, Sarah"

Sarah has stopped crying for a while. She looks fragile and ready to break anytime.
"Did your parents know?"

"Yes. They have met them this morning"

"Where are they now?"

"At their place"

"Did you sleep with her last night?"

"Sarah..."

"It is okay. I understand. I have failed you. I'm too busy with my own mind rather then look at what you need. Simon is my college friend, the one that I have a crush on. The news of his marriage brings me to my worst. I thought I was still like him but when you walk out of my office, I know I made a mistake. And I'm willing to pay the price now."

"Sarah.."

"Please don't leave me. I know you probably will go back to her but please stay with me for the night. I need you, Arthur,"

Arthur is debating. He promised Adeline and Vicky he will be coming back tonight and he is afraid if he goes, Sarah will break again.

Adeline seems to know what is happening with Sarah, she texts Arthur and told him to stay with Sarah tonight and will tell Vicky that he is leaving earlier for work.

After Arthur read the message and ease comes to his heart.
